Located on the island of Heimaey, this cottage is just a 10-minute walk to the centre of the small Westman Island (or Vestmannaeyjar), where you can find all kinds of fantastic restaurants and great museums. Especially worthy of a mention is the Eldheimar museum which focuses on volcanoes and the devastating effect of the volcanic eruption which took place on the island in the 1970s. This is a fascinating and paramount piece in the history of this island, and part of what makes a visit to this museum so essential.
There is, however, plenty more to do while in Heimaey. You can hike to the top of the Eldfell volcano and see the aftermath of the 1973 eruption. Alternatively, drive to some of the puffin nesting spots in the summer months and meet or small, cute friends. The town also boasts some lovely cafes and shops, and the harbour area is particularly beautiful.
The accommodation is 5 minutes walking from the swimming pool, and there are a supermarket and liquor stores located in the centre.
Needless to reiterate, you will have plenty to do and see while staying on this Westman Island.
The cottage itself is located in one of the most significant spots in Vestmannaeyjar. It offers a fantastic view of the famous Herjólfsdalur up to Eyjafjallajökull, allowing visitors to take in and enjoy views of nature and the surrounding islands.
The cottage itself is well-equipped with ample space, a small kitchen and a comfortable lounge area.
There's a lovely porch surrounding the cottage which is great for a cosy time in the sun in the summer months.
In the winter months, you have a good chance of spotting the Northern Lights and can enjoy sipping on a hot chocolate from within the cosy cottage.
This is the ideal accommodation choice for a young family.
