This cozy countryside cottage is located 15.5 miles (25 kilometers) south of the small seaside town of Husavik. Just steps from the Laxa I Adaldal river, the home sits in a scenic location that offers guests all the peace and quiet of Iceland's rural interior. Myvatn lake, the fourth largest lake in Iceland, is 23 miles (37 kilometers) south of the guesthouse. Hagi is also located right along the Diamond Circle, which is made up Dettifoss waterfall, the most powerful in Europe with its thunderous average waterflow of 6,186 cubic feet (193 meters) cubed per second; the horseshow-shaped Asbyrgi canyon (said to be made from the hoof-print of the 8th-legged horse of Odinn, Sleipnir, in Norse mythology); and Husavik, the Whale Watching Capital of Iceland, among other sites.
The town of Husavik features several worthwhile sites, including the postcard-perfect Husaiíkurkirkja church and a picturesque harbor with handsome wooden houses and gorgeous views over the Skjalfandi Bay. Cute cafés and restaurants, gas stations, and several supermarkets make Husavik a must-stop for provisions and other necessities.
With the Husavik Airport located just 10 miles north (16.5 kilometers), Hagi is easily reached by domestic flights.
