Location & Nearby
The guesthouse at Reynivellir is located in the southeast of Iceland, within walking distance of the Atlantic Coast. It’s approximately 240 miles (390 kilometers) east of Reykjavik. It’s a great option for travelers who want to visit the most popular attractions in South Iceland. It’s right by the Ring Road so visitors have easy access to good road links, and it’s easy to reach some of the best sights in the area.
The Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, for example, is just 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) from the guesthouse. This beautiful lake is scattered with icebergs, and the nearby Diamond Beach takes its name from the bergs that have washed ashore. The area is also a good place to see seals, as there are usually several relaxing on the icebergs or swimming in the waters.
Skaftafell nature reserve is another popular place near Reynivellir. This beautiful destination, which is part of Vatnajokull National Park, is about 42 miles (68 kilometers) from the property. Here, travelers can explore the beautiful natural attractions — waterfalls, glacial lakes, black sand deserts — or try their hand at ice climbing on the largest glacier in Europe, the Vatnajokull glacier.
The town of Hofn is just 27 miles (43 kilometers) from Reynivellir. This is where you’ll find the closest supermarket. Hofn is also home to several restaurants and cafés. There’s also a restaurant at Reynivellir’s sister accommodation, Guesthouse Gerdi, which is just 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) from Reynivellir.
Facilities & Amenities
The Reynivellir guesthouse offers peaceful and private accommodation on one of the oldest farms in the area. The property is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, providing guests with gorgeous views of mountains and glaciers.
The accommodation here consists of the main guesthouse in addition to a few detached cottages. In the main guesthouse, you’ll find single, twin, double, triple, and quadruple rooms. There are seven rooms in total with four shared-use bathrooms. There’s also a shared lounge area and a fully equipped kitchen.
Each of the detached cottages can sleep up to eight people. They have one double room, one room with a set of bunk beds, and a sleeping loft that has room for two to three additional guests. The cottages also have their own kitchen, a private bathroom, and a living area with a TV. Each unit also has an outdoor patio, where guests can enjoy the beautiful mountain or glacier views.
Free Wi-Fi is available for guests, and there’s free parking too. Reynivellir’s sister property, Guesthouse Gerdi, is a couple of miles from this guesthouse and has an on-site restaurant serving breakfast and dinner.
