The Tradir Guesthouse is a magical escape on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Its cottages and rooms appeal to travellers of all stripes, as does its amazing location and beautiful surroundings.
Location & Nearby
The Tradir Guesthouse is surrounded by rural bliss, with views of both the sea and mountains; it also boasts an amazing location on the southern shore of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, a region with an incredible array of diverse sites. The nearest of these to the guesthouse is less than an hour’s walk, or five minutes’ drive, away; Ytri Tunga is a stunning beach, and one of the top places in the country for watching seals.
The nearest settlement where you can find groceries and other services is Arnarstapi, which can be reached in just over half-hour. This village sits on the cusp of Snaefellsjokull National Park, a spectacular reserve around the Snaefellsjokull subglacial volcano. This incredible area is thus very easy to explore from Tradir, and boasts other attractions such as the Djupalonssandur black sand beach.
Outside of the national park, sites such as Gerduberg, a cliff face with hexagonal basalt columns, and Kirkjufell, a church-shaped mountain that featured in Game of Thrones, can be reached in 50 and 30 minutes respectively.
