Head a little further afield, and you’ll find Skaftafell National Park, home to some of the most beautiful landscapes and hiking trails in the whole of Iceland. The park is at the foot of Iceland’s highest mountain, Hvannadalshnukur, which stands at 6922 feet (2110 meters) high. One of the most well-known hiking trails in the area takes in Svartifoss waterfall, which is also a spectacular sight to see. You can take a once-in-a-lifetime glacier adventure tour from here, too!
