Description
Summary
Description
Jump aboard this incredible day tour to the South Coast of Iceland, for waterfalls, volcanoes, and a glacier hike. This trip perfectly combines sightseeing around one of the country’s most beautiful regions, and the adventure of scaling a fascinating ice cap.
When you leave from Reykjavik, you will notice your bus has some very useful amenities. You will be provided with a tablet, the bus has free wifi, and you’ll also get an ‘in-Bus Audio Guide’, through which you can hear about what you’ll see in ten different languages. There will also be an experienced tour guide on board, who is happy to answer any of your questions.
When your group is gathered, you will set out on the beautiful South Coast. This region is famed for its incredible views, with its many rivers, volcanoes, beaches and waterfalls. You will make stops at the two most famous of these falls as you travel.
The first is Seljalandsfoss. This is a beautiful feature, surrounded by verdant fields and trickling streams. What is especially unique about this waterfall is the fact that the cliff it tumbles from is concave; this makes it possible to walk all the way around the falling water, for some spectacular views.
You will then see Skógafoss. While you cannot walk all the way around this waterfall, it is much more powerful, and awe-inspiring to look upon. There is a staircase to one side, which you can ascend for different perspectives of this fascinating landmark.
As you drive to and from these waterfalls, your guide will point out some other fascinating places. So long as the weather is clear, you may be able to see Eyjafjallajökull, the notorious glacier that erupted in 2010, causing widespread disruption to air travel, or the volcano Hekla. Looking out to sea, it is often possible to see the jagged peaks of the Westman Islands in the distance.
Your third stop will be at Sólheimajökull glacier, where you will be able to hike. Glacier hiking is one of the most unique and exciting excursions you can take in Iceland; there are few other places in the world where walking on an otherworldly ice cap is so accessible and easy.
Your guide will provide you with the gear you need, namely crampons and a helmet. Following a discussion about safety, you will ascend the glacier, for some stunning views. The glacier itself is fascinating, veined with striations of black ash and blue ice, and the view over the South Coast from your vantage point will stay with you for life.
After enjoying the glacier, you’ll hop back into your bus for the scenic drive back to Reykjavík.
This tour combines sightseeing and adventure perfectly and is not to be missed. Book now to reserve your place. Check availability by choosing a date.

What to bring
Good to know
The weather changes quickly in Iceland, so don't be caught unawares. It is always better to bring a sweater or dress in layers which you can remove if you are too warm. (Jeans are not recommended because denim, once wet, will spread moisture and take a long time to dry, leaving the wearer extremely cold!)
