Scenic 3 Day Photography Workshop in the Icelandic Highlands with Waterfalls & Crater Lakes

Your second day in the Icelandic highlands and there’s much learning, discovering and photographing to be done. You will begin your day by heading into the Landmannalaugar region (“The Pools of the People”), an area known for its rainbow-like hillsides and natural hot pools. All in all, you’ll find so many points of interest here, you won’t know which way to point the camera first!

Thankfully, your experienced guides will lead you to the area’s highlights, the first of which is the dramatic Frostastaðaháls ridge, offering up unreal perspectives over the Highland landscapes, including of the crater lake that shares its name. You will next move on to the valley of Sigöldugljúfur, known for its picture-postcard array of waterfalls.

To finish off the day right, you’ll spend an hour or two bathing in one of Landmannalaugar’s natural hot pools, relaxing your muscles and mind under the glowing midnight sun. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel accommodation.

One such attraction is Háifoss, a particularly impressive waterfall that cascades a total of 120 metres into a dark, cragged ravine. Háifoss is currently the fourth tallest waterfall in Iceland after Morsárfoss, Glymur and Hengifoss, though new waterfalls are being formed and found all the time.

Two other waterfalls you’ll be seeing today include Granni and Hjálparfoss. Granni can be found almost right next to Háifoss and makes for a fantastic panoramic view over the area, whilst Hjálparfoss can be best characterised by its dark, basalt columns, luminous moss and frothing white cascade.

At the end of this shooting period, you will board the minibus with the rest of your group and make the return journey to Reykjavík, content in the new and exciting skills you have learnt over the last three days, as well as mesmerised by your own personal photographs.
