Day 1
Strokkur, found in Haukadalur geothermal valley, is known to erupt every five to ten minutes.

Day 1 - History, Geothermal Areas & Waterfalls

Your adventure begins with a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide picking you up in the morning. They will introduce themselves and whisk you away to embark on an unforgettable journey along the Golden Circle, Iceland's most sought-after sightseeing route.

The first stop on this route is Thingvellir National Park. As you arrive, you'll be mesmerized by the vast expanse of sweeping lava fields adorned with a lush carpet of moss. The scenery is truly epic, but what makes this place truly unique is its geological significance.

Here, you can witness a remarkable phenomenon—the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates visibly exposed from the Earth's crust. It's a rare sight, found only in a handful of locations worldwide.

Continuing your expedition, you'll venture to the Geysir geothermal area. Prepare to be amazed as you encounter the famous hot spring known as Strokkur. This incredible natural wonder erupts with bubbling excitement every five to ten minutes, propelling towering jets of water as high as 25 meters into the sky. Such a spectacle is a true rarity and will leave you in awe of the power and beauty of nature.

The grand finale of your day's exploration will be the breathtaking Gullfoss waterfall. Standing at an impressive 32 meters tall, this majestic waterfall is fed by glacial water originating from the Langjokull ice cap.

As it cascades into the mighty Gullfossgljufur canyon, it creates a mesmerizing display of nature's force. The canyon's imposing walls reach heights of up to 70 meters, while the waterfall itself is split into two rugged steps, offering photographers numerous angles to capture this awe-inspiring sight.

As the day draws to a close, you'll find yourself at a comfortable accommodation nestled in the Golden Circle area. Here, you can unwind and rejuvenate your senses in a soothing hot tub while basking in the gentle glow of the Midnight Sun. It's a tranquil and magical experience, allowing you to reflect on the wonders you've encountered throughout the day.

Day 2 - Glittering Waterfalls & Glaciers

Prepare for a breathtaking journey as you embark on a scenic drive along Iceland's South Coast. Throughout your adventure, you'll be treated to several stunning vistas, from ancient sea cliffs to picturesque farmlands. As you travel the route, majestic mountains and dazzling glaciers will grace your left side while the Atlantic Ocean's rumbling blue waves dance on your right.
Your first encounters along the way will be the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. Though they both cascade from the same height, each possesses its own unique charm.
Seljalandsfoss presents a narrower cascade, accompanied by a walking path that leads you behind the falling water. This remarkable feature offers an extraordinary view of the South Coast that is truly one-of-a-kind. On the other hand, Skogafoss boasts a wider cascade, generating a constant misty plume as it crashes into the rocks below, creating a beautiful spectacle.
Continuing your journey along the coastline, you will soon reach the enchanting jet-black sand beach of Reynisfjara. This otherworldly shoreline, formed by ancient volcanic activity, will ignite your imagination.
Marvel at the fascinating lava columns that line the beach and cast your gaze upon the majestic rock stack known as Reynisdrangar. According to local folklore, these towering formations are believed to be the petrified remnants of ancient trolls, adding a touch of mythical wonder to the landscape.
For those seeking even more adventure, explore Katla ice cave. Delve into the depths of these unique frozen wonders, each possessing its own distinct character, like intricate fingerprints carved by nature herself.
Concluding your day's journey, you will arrive in the charming seaside town of Vik. Take some time to explore the incredible surroundings, perhaps venturing to the town's quaint shops and cafes, or simply strolling along the shoreline as you soak in the peaceful ambiance.
You will spend the night in this delightful coastal town, immersing yourself in its warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon is sure to be one of the most memorable locations during your 8-day adventure.

Day 3 - Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Crossing the black sand desert of Solheimasandur, you will arrive at the foot of Vatnajokull National Park, with the mountain and glacier of the same name towering over you in one of the most stunning and monumental sights in the country. This is truly Iceland at its best, with stark contrasts in landscape and color with each turn of the head.
You will stop at Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, sometimes called “The Crown Jewel of Iceland” due to its extraordinary and memorable aesthetic. Here, icebergs break away from a nearby glacier, falling impressively onto the lagoon’s mirror-like surface. Floating gently, these icebergs make for an impressive spectacle, creaking and groaning under their own weight as the resident seals play and splash in between them.
During your visit between May and August, get ready for an exhilarating experience as you embark on a boat tour amidst Jokulsarlon's crystal waters. This thrilling excursion allows you to navigate between towering icebergs, immersing yourself in the presence of these ancient icy giants.
On an amphibian boat tour, you'll explore this otherworldly spot that has been featured in many Hollywood blockbusters. A large vessel, this preference is great for families and big groups and anyone who wishes to experience the novelty of driving into a body of water!
Over time, these icebergs make their way out towards the next stop, Diamond Beach. This is a photographer’s paradise, with the blue ice washing up on the black sand shore creating a bewitching disparity in color.
Today you will also travel through the Skaftafell Nature Reserve. This area sits within Vatnajokull National Park. Within Skaftafell, you will take a glacier hike.
