Come along on a tour to see the brightly dancing Northern Lights! This excursion will deliver you to a fabulous viewing location outside Reykjavík, away from the interference of the city lights.

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation in the evening whisked away out of the city in search for the perfect viewing location. If you are lucky, conditions will be just right for a spectacular display in the night sky. Your experienced tour guides will find the best place to view the stunning phenomena.

It was Galileo who named the Northern Lights in the 15th century. He gave them the name Aurora Borealis. 'Aurora' was the Roman goddess of the Dawn and 'Boreas' is the Greek name for the northern wind.

In the 17th century, the Northern Lights in Iceland were thought to be the result of sparks flying off shining weapons and armours of the Valkyries as they rode across the night sky. Now we know that the bright lights of the auroras are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun entering earth's atmosphere.

No matter what you believe the lights to be, it is always a unique experience to see them shining brightly. Auroral displays can appear in many colours, pale green and pink being the most common. Shades of red, neon green, blue, yellow and violet have also been reported. Which will you see?

In Iceland, they are visible in the fall and winter months, when sunlight hours are short. They can be seen as early as mid-August and as late in the season as mid-April. Remember, though, that the dancing lights are elusive! Weather conditions must be clear and atmospheric conditions must be just right.

Don't miss this spectacular opportunity to enjoy the magic in the sky! Check availability by choosing a date.
