Have a lovely day of caving and horseback riding in the unique nature of Iceland. You’ll be picked up at your Reykjavik hotel or a prearranged meeting point and driven to your adventure in the countryside.
The cave we will visit is called Leiðarendi. This 900-meter long lava tube offers unique rock formations, such as stalactites and shelves. Some light crawling may be required, yet Leiðarendi cave has rather easy access to the Icelandic lava fields' underworld wonders.
The Leiðarendi lava tube actually consists of two caves formed by two separate eruptions, each a thousand years apart. It is known for its kaleidoscopic colors, made by various minerals, and for being the home to trolls in traditional Icelandic folklore.
The horse riding will take place at the friendly family-run farm, Laxnes, where you’ll ride on the Icelandic horse. This unique breed is renowned for being intelligent and gentle and also for having five gaits.
But before the horse riding, the farm offers soup and bread for 1000 kr., or, if you prefer to bring your own lunch pack, you´d be welcome to have it at the farm. On this tour, you will enjoy Icelandic nature at the same time you are getting to know these small, friendly horses. You’ll be surrounded by the stunning landscapes of Mosfellsbaer’s Blue Mountains.
You will be provided with the necessary safety equipment for each of these activities, so you just need to dress for the weather, wear some sturdy hiking shoes, and bring a camera to take advantage of the wonders you will see.
