Daily itinerary

Day 1
Snorkelling through two continents at Silfra Ravine at Þingvellir National Park.

Day 1 - Snorkelling in Silfra Ravine

Today you'll be snorkeling in the beautiful and clear waters of Silfra Ravine, situated within Þingvellir National Park, one of the stops of the Golden Circle sightseeing route.

You will meet your guide at the parking lot by Silfra fissure, where you will be suited up in a drysuit and given all necessary equipment such as a snorkeling mask and fins. The water in the fissure is glacial, so you'll also get a warm suit underneath your drysuit as well as neoprene gloves.

But due to the glacial element, you'll be rewarded with spectacular scenery and visibility of up to 328 feet (100 meters). You'll spend 30-40 minutes snorkeling through the azure blue waters, being carried by a light current through the rift.

After a short walk back to the parking lot, you'll be greeted with hot chocolate and cookies. After that, you're free to spend the rest of the day sightseeing.

Day 2
Natural glacier ice cave by Katla volcano in South Iceland.

Day 2 - Ice Caving by Katla Volcano

Today, in the late morning, you will meet your guide in the village of Vík on the South Coast. From there, you'll be transported in a Super Jeep along Iceland's older Ring Road towards the highlands.

The beautiful but bumpy route takes you through black sand dunes and past some impressive mountains before you reach the ice cap of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which covers Katla volcano. Your guide will tell you stories of the volcano and the evil witch after which the volcano is named.

Once there, you'll be given crampons and a helmet, so you'll have stable footings on the ice. You'll then walk through the jet-black plains to the beautiful ice caves, which are constantly changing in size and shape. You'll undoubtedly see some white, black and blue ice as you explore a labyrinth of ice tunnels and caves of varying sizes. You'll learn about the glacier and the caves from your guide, so be sure to use this time to ask any questions as well.

These ice caves are the only natural glacier ice caves that can be visited both in summer and winter. After the tour, you'll be dropped off back in Vík, where you can continue your exploration of the South Coast.

Day 3
Impressive glacier views in Iceland.

Day 3 - Glacier Hiking in Skaftafell Nature Reserve

Today you'll be glacier hiking on a glacier tongue of the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull! You'll meet your guide at Skaftafell Nature Reserve, who will take you to the edge of the glacier, where you will receive your crampons, helmet, harness, and ice ax.

The scenery is fantastic, with enormous white, blue, and black ice surrounded by mountains and sand fields. Visitors are sure to feel the connection with Mother Nature and be in awe of the unfathomable size of the glacier they're presented with. You'll see firsthand the constant changes of the environment, and witness impressive ice formations, blue ice in cracks and crevasses and learn about this frosty landscape from your experienced guide.

Good to know

The weather changes quickly in Iceland, so don't be caught unawares. It is always better to bring a sweater or dress in layers which you can remove if you are too warm.

Note that Icelandic roads and pavements can be slippery in the wintertime. We recommend you bring shoes with slip-resistant soles or ice-grip shoe covers if you visit in the winter. The covers can be purchased in most supermarkets and gas stations around the country.

Please note that this combo requires you to meet on location, meaning you will have to make your own way to the meeting point for each tour.
