Join this brilliant combo-tour at the beautiful frozen landscapes near Lake Mývatn. On this tour, you will experience travelling on the snow in two unique and breathtaking ways, by dog sled and by snowmobile, making this the perfect option for adrenaline-hungry travellers in North Iceland looking to maximise their time in Iceland.
You will meet your guide at the Siberian Husky Kennel at Heiði farm, near Lake Mývatn in North Iceland. There, you will also meet the day's working dogs. Huskies are incredibly sensitive, energetic, loyal and hard-working breeds, making them the perfect choice for sledding across Iceland's frozen nature.
On the sled, you will be joined by a fellow guest and a musher from the tour operator who will control the 8-10 attached Huskies. They will pull you along for approximately 5 kilometres, making numerous stops for photographs along the way. Before setting out, your musher will take you through the necessary steps of dog sledding and even let you try it out for yourself.
After this portion of the tour is over, two guests will share a snowmobile and enjoy a fast, yet scenic ride across the snow. Fear not, for you will be directed beforehand as to how to operate the snowmobile safely and make the most of your time atop the machine.
Once again, there will be plenty of opportunity for photographing the surrounding landscape, and after the tour, you will have another chance to play and pat the kennel's Huskies.
