Witness the most classic sites of West Iceland with this super jeep day tour. This excursion is perfect for those who want to see lava caves, glaciers, waterfalls and the highlands.

You will be picked up from Reykjavík in a vehicle that can handle any terrain, and whisked out of the capital. Due to the size of the jeep, you are guaranteed a very personal experience.

Your first destination is Þingvellir National Park. This is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Icelandic mainland due to its wealth of history, but this is where Icelanders founded their parliament, the 'Alþingi', in 930 AD. It is also renowned for its lava landscapes, created by volcanic eruptions, but the park sits directly between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

After admiring this site and having an enjoyable walk, you will take a highland road up to the second largest glacier in Europe, Langjökull. Your super jeep is more than capable of ascending the icy slopes of the glacier, allowing you to witness amazing views over the country's interior, as well as awe-inspiring snowscapes.

Next on the agenda is the dramatic lava field of Hallmundarhraun, which holds one of Iceland's most incredible lava caves. At this point, you'll be provided with a helmet and torch, and follow your guide into the subterranean world beneath Iceland's surface.

After an incredible caving tour, you will return to your jeep, and be driven to a pair of adjacent waterfalls. Hraunfossar is wide, gently trickling through an enormous field of lava. Barnafoss, meanwhile, is rapid and ferocious, tearing down a narrow gorge. Once these sites have been enjoyed, you'll be taken back to Reykjavík.
