Add a once-in-a-lifetime tour to your day at the awe-inspiring Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, by including a trip into the ice cave. Ice caving is Iceland’s most incredible winter activity, so do not let this opportunity pass you by.

The tour will begin at Jökulsárlón’s car park, where your glacier guides will be waiting. You would, however, be well advised to reserve an hour or two before or after the tour to explore this magical lagoon, which fills with giant icebergs and is home to many seals.

Your guides are experienced, friendly and qualified, and will ensure you have a personal experience by having a ratio of two guides to a maximum of fifteen guests. You and your group will board the super jeeps awaiting once you are ready, and set off for your ice cave in Breiðamerkurjökull glacier.

The ice caves are only stable enough to enter in the very depths of winter, and even then can be volatile, but your’s will have been checked before your arrival to ensure it is safe to enter. The opportunity to explore one is thus incredibly rare around the world.

When you see your ice cave, you’ll see why tours such as this one are so popular and competitive. They barely seem natural, with perfectly arranged icicles, dramatic scale and silky smooth walls. Your guide will get you into your safety equipment, then let you roam around.

You will spend about forty minutes in the cave, during which your guide will tell you all about the science behind these creations, the folklore of the area, and they will answer any questions you may have. After you have drunk up the beauty of the site, you’ll return to the super jeep, and be whisked back to Jökulsárlón.

Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to explore an ice cave in Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. Check availability by choosing a date.

After looking through a number of reviews, I finally settled on this one. And it was worth every minute. I was unlucky and was delayed due to a storm. Quick little email relay, and they had me rescheduled for the next tour. The guide was patient enough to wait for me, and the cozy little group made for great personal time in the cave. Most of the glacier tours are going to have other groups, that's just the nature of visiting Iceland at the moment. Tour guide was thoroughly knowledgeable and conversational, very happy to take pictures for you and make sure you have the experience you've paid for (Bernal, I think his name was? Sorry to have forgotten!) 10/10 would recommend, and would certainly do this again.

This was an amazing experience. One of the highlight of our trip. The driver and tour guide were great and even spent more time explaining the landscape and cave to our 2 children. We experienced both the ice cave and an old collapsed cave on our tour. The stop on the way back to photograph the frozen lake was also spectacular. Yes, it seems an expensive trip, but in my opinion, well worth it.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. Our driver was a fantastic, expertly navigating the drive to the glacier, although I wish I had the ability to drive that truck! His counterpart guiding the tour was knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly. She possessed extra knowledge surrounding the glaciers and volcanoes that led to a better all-around experience! If you are thinking about doing a glacier walk or ice cave tour, stop thinking and book this now!

This was an amazing experience. Our jeep driver and our guide both were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The trip out to the glacier was very exciting thanks to the off road part. Getting to put on the cramp ons and hard hat was a definite thrill but nothing beat getting to go into the glacier cave as the sun was coming up over the horizon, and having the cave all to ourselves as a group. We learned so much from our guide and had the most wonderful time. Thank you!
