Eyjafjallajökull volcano is one of Iceland's most beautiful glaciers.
There is no knowing exactly how strong the Northern Lights will appear at any given time.
Seeing the Northern Lights is on many people's bucket list.
The Northern Lights only appear in the sky during Iceland's dark winter months.
Hunting the Northern Lights is a fun experience unto it, made all the better when they finally appear.

Come along on this adventurous Northern Lights hunt on top of Iceland's most infamous glacier; Eyjafjallajökull volcano! This is the perfect tour option for those travellers looking to see the stunning Northern Lights in an equally staggering location.

The tour starts from the base Gljúfrabúi, by Road 249, from where you will head on towards the Eyjafjallajökull glacier in your specifically designed Super Jeep, the only vehicle capable of handling the rough terrain of the Icelandic highlands. You will pull over to appreciate the scenery a number of times during your journey to the glacier, and you will also be entertained by the informative tales your driver/guide says enroute.

Eyjafjallajökull is most widely known for its violent eruption in 2010, an event that was so cataclysmic that it shut down air traffic over mainland Europe. Don't be worried, though! The chances of an eruption during your tour are, for all intent and purposes, absolutely zilch. Besides, there's always enough time to get off the volcano should the impossible occur.

As night begins to creep over the landscape,  you will begin your Northern Lights hunt on the glacier. Thankfully, Eyjafjallajökull is in the middle, meaning no light pollution. This overwhelming darkness helps to visually strengthen the Auroras, ensuring an intense show of many colours. This is just one of the many reasons as to why it so much more exciting observing the Northern Lights from the glacier rather than anywhere else.

The Northern Lights will most appear as a light green ribbon waving across the night sky. With a little patience, however, the aurora will often expand into a kaleidoscopic display of pink, red, purple and yellow.

So don't delay any further! Hurry and you too can experience the visually stunning Northern Lights from one of the most dramatic and picturesque features in the whole of Iceland; Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Check availability by choosing a date.
