Join this two-day tour to see the beautiful Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and hike on an outlet glacier of an enormous icecap. You will explore the entire outlet glacier, coming across many amazing features, including hiking right up to the ice fall for the ultimate view of this stunning glacier. You will hike past and through crevasses to stand amongst natural towers of blue ice overlooking the glacial valley below.

This tour is a great option if you want to escape the city and explore the entire south coast of Iceland. The south eastern corner of the country has some of the most stunning sights, including Iceland’s largest glacier and some of its highest mountains.

The two day tour gives you the time to take in the impressive Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, as well as the black sand beach and basalt columns at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. You'll pass through Vik, quickly stopping for a photo of the iconicj church. On teh glacier hike you get up close and personal to the astonishingly beautiful ice formations at Vatnajökull ice cap and be mesmerised by the giant icebergs floating around the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. You will be able to spot some curious seals here too, as well as large crystals of ice washed up on the nearby Diamond Beach, sparkling on the black sand.

You will also be able to explore endless moss covered lava fields from the devastating Laki eruption, and be in awe of the incredible Fjaðrárgljúfur gorge.

During winter months there’s a chance you’ll be able to see the northern lights dancing across the sky, whilst the summer lets you experience the endless sun filled nights in the countryside.

This tour includes accommodation and a delicious buffet breakfast at a new and modern guesthouse, which has modern, comfortable rooms and private bathrooms. You will rest easy, all ready for another day exploring this amazing part of Iceland.

The south-east of Iceland is one of the country's most exciting areas. Check availability by choosing a date.

Daily itinerary

Day 1
The waterfalls of the South Coast - most notably Seljalandsfoss and the pictured Skógafoss - draw thousands of visitors throughout the year.

Day 1 - The South Coast

After being picked up in Reykjavík, you will be driven straight to the impressive Seljalandsfoss waterfall. This beautiful cascade has an unusual feature; you can walk behind the falling spring water for a marvellous view of the surrounding countryside.

The waterfalls do not stop there; next up is the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, which is a sight that you will not forget.

From here we drive onto Reynisfjara where we get to marvel at the amazing black sand beach and basalt columns. This is also a great stop for lunch.

From there, the journey continues east with a stop at Fjaðrárgljúfur. You'll surely be impressed by the forces of nature that have eroded this spectacular gorge. Further east, you'll drive past the mighty Vatnajökull icecap, and feel dwarfed by the size of this glacier which covers whole mountain ranges.

You'll spend the night at an incredibly comfortable country guesthouse, resting up for another action-packed day. All the rooms are fitted with modern furniture and private bathrooms. Dinner from the kitchen is always a delight, with the chefs taking advantage of the fresh, local Icelandic produce.

With favourable conditions in winter, we will hunt for the magical northern lights.
