Join this tour for a fascinating all-day experience in the raw, natural wonders of Iceland’s largest ice cap, Vatnajökull glacier. This tour is perfectly tailored to those eager to experience Iceland's raw and unbound natural powers.

Your day starts with your tour guides picking you up early in the morning and whisking you out of Reykjavík and through the countryside to your destination.

Take in the inviting Icelandic countryside as you speed by in comfort. You’ll see the waterfalls, lava fields, rugged coastline and glacial mountains that make Iceland unique to the world.

In spring, you'll see the first sheep and foals of the year as they totter along on the craggy plains of the farmland, drinking in the sun as black and green rock formations loom forebodingly over them. On a winter evening, you may be lucky enough to see the first tickling of the Northern Lights in the dusky sky.

Once you arrive at the glacier, you’ll zoom over the ice on the back of a snowmobile, breathing in the clear air and enjoying a view like any other, even in Iceland. The Guinness Book of World Records holds that Vatnajökull has the largest sight line in Europe. On a clear day, it can be seen all the way from the highest peak in the Faroe Islands more than 500 km (300 miles) away!

On the way back, you'll have another chance to drink in the Icelandic scenery, including such sights as Skaftafell Nature Reserve. Skaftafell is nestled in the lee of several glaciers and glacial tongues, Vatnajökull, Skeiðarájökull and Skaftafellsjökull.

While today, it is one of the most beautiful places in Iceland with many hiking trails, tall trees and burbling streams, it was previously ravaged by volcanic eruption and erosion which reduced it to a wasteland. Admire the resilience of nature as you cruise by!

You can also take in Skógarfoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls on the way back to the city. These rivers and their charming falls are part of what makes the harsh landscape of Iceland livable, bringing much-needed water to the southern region of the country and providing irrigation to the farms dotted with the fluffy sheep that you see.

Don’t miss this chance to explore one of the most remote locations in Iceland on a thrilling snowmobile ride! Check availability by choosing a date.
