Come along on one of the most popular tours in all of Iceland and visit the sites of the famed Golden Circle route. This tour is classic and affordable, ideal for anyone looking to get a feeling of Iceland's rich history, fascinating culture and otherworldly geology.

You’ll be picked up in Reykjavík and whisked off to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a continental rift valley. This scene is the birthplace of the Icelandic nation, where Viking chieftains decided to establish the first parliament of the land in 930 AD, and that same legislative body still operates today.

Besides the park's historical and cultural importance, it displays a unique geology and unbelievable natural landscapes. Get ready to understand the concept of continental drifting by viewing the huge crevices carved out of the earth by the force of the slowly moving tectonic plates, tearing apart at a rate of 2 mm per year.

The terrible pressure of the earth’s crust has also opened several fissures which are filled with crystalline waters from glacial runoff, such as Silfra, a very popular spot for diving. Nearby you'll see the stretch of Þingvallarvatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Next, you will continue towards the Geyser geothermal area. There, you will find Strokkur, one of the most active geysers in the world, spouting scalding water and steam at a height of up to 40 m (131 ft) at very regular intervals.

After a lunch break in the area, you'll visit Gullfoss waterfall, Iceland's most treasured natural gem. It is located on one of Iceland’s largest glacier rivers. The force of the water is astonishing as it shoots down plunging over the two-tiered falls and splashes into the canyon far below. You can watch it from afar or walk directly over the falls to feel the refreshing spray on your face.

Don't miss out on this popular sojourn to Iceland's most vital locales for history, culture, and breathtaking natural landscapes. Check availability by choosing a date.
