Your day begins with a pick-up from your Reykjavik accommodation between 09:00 a.m. and 09:30 a.m. First up is an exciting ATV ride, so the driver will take you to the Reykjavik countryside, where the adventure begins.
After a short drive from the city, you’ll arrive at the start point for the ATV ride. Two people will ride on each quad bike, with a single supplement available if you prefer to drive alone. Drivers must be at least 17 years of age with a valid license, and children as young as five can ride as a passenger.
The ATVs are automatic and easy to operate. Your guide will ensure you have the information and equipment for a safe and enjoyable ride.
Then it’s time to zoom across rugged terrain with the wind in your hair and your worries behind you. ATV riding is an excellent way to get close to Iceland’s nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
You’ll ride to lake Hafravatn, a gorgeous opportunity for a photo stop with its blue water and mountain backdrop.
Then your group will follow a trail to the peak of Hafrafell mountain. The mountaintop rewards you with picturesque panoramic views of Reykjavik and its surroundings before you head down the hill to the starting point.
The ATV ride takes about one hour, after which your driver will take you to a hotel next to the Reykjavik domestic airport. There’s time for a quick coffee at the hotel before your helicopter flight leaves at noon.
First, you’ll greet your friendly and experienced pilot before heading into the sky for a birdseye view over Reykjavik. See if you can spot the capital’s famous landmarks, such as the Hallgrimskirkja church, Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, and the Sun Voyager sculpture.
Soon the pilot will land on a nearby summit, the perfect chance for you to breathe in the fresh mountain air and capture photos for lasting memories. You’ll see the mountains, city, and coast below you, a picturesque sight.
After around 20 minutes of exploring the mountaintop, it’s time to fly back to the Reykjavik domestic airport. The total flight time is about 15-20 minutes, so you’ll be back in time for lunch and can spend your afternoon as you wish.
