The adventure starts in the morning at the Sólhestar horse rental farm in Ölfus where you will be equipped with the appropriate riding gear and assigned with the right horse for the tour. The right horse will be allocated to the right guest by matching the character and temper, making sure each visitor has the perfect travel companion.
The riding trail is approximately 18 km long, which is means that you will spend between four and five hours in the saddle. Time will be added for gearing up, getting to know your horse and transfer, should you elect to be picked up upon booking.
The ride typically starts by heading to Reykjadalur, a geothermal valley above the town of Hveragerði. Then you ride up through the mountain paths, all the way up to the geothermal area where visitors are able to experience hot springs up close and bathe in a geothermal river surrounded by pure nature. After basking in the geothermal baths, you'll ride all the way back, through the town of Hveragerði and its surrounding area, crossing a shallow river, and riding on rocky mountain paths through an Icelandic pine forest to blue lupine meadows.
