Hot springs and waterfalls Summer Super Jeep Tour
Make the most of your time with this private tour of some of Northern Iceland’s top sightseeing locations. You’ll be picked up at your hotel in a Super Jeep equipped with Wi-Fi and driven by a certified local guide.
We start our tour from Akureyri, following Eyjafjörður and driving over the mountain pass in the direction of several waterfalls. Iceland’s landscapes are captivating and unique in the world. You’ll be immediately immersed in the geological wonders of the region as we travel to our first stop.
Our first attraction is Goðafoss. Known as the waterfall of the Gods, this impressive feature is famous in history for being the site of Iceland’s conversion from pagan beliefs to Christianity. Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði, an Ásatrú priest facing pressure and possibly even invasion from Norway, threw idols of the Old Gods into the waterfall, making this a spot of incredible cultural significance for Icelanders. It’s uniquely bow-shaped and is a must-see destination if you are visiting the country.
Afterwards we will keep on driving up the valley of Bárðardalur to discover Aldeyjarfoss with its unique basalt pillars. Standing 20 meters tall, the water plunges into an amazing blue lagoon that is perfect for photographing. We will then close our waterfall trilogy by visiting Hrafnabjargafoss, a hidden gem, and the home to stunning views of the highlands.
From there, we head up to the highlands in search of the hot spring at Laugafell, where you can jump into a natural hot pool. Located in this harsh environment, it feels like you are relaxing in an arctic oasis.
Refreshed after the hot spring bathing, we head back down into Eyjafjörður valley until we reach Akureyri. This is a roundtrip tour. See the sights of the North in comfort and make your vacation a memory that will last a lifetime. Choose a date to learn more about tour availability.
