u'Explore Iceland’s second largest glacier, Langjökull, on this exciting tour where you ride across the glacier’s icy surface on a snowmobile before entering its depth through a man-made ice cave tunnel. Those looking for a unique twist on their holiday in Iceland need to look no further.

You’ll be picked up in Reykjavík city and driven past the city mountain, Esja, and through West Iceland’s farmlands to the settlement of Húsafell. There, you’ll leave your bus behind and enter a massive vehicle specially designed to handle the rough drive up Langjökull glacier.

At the base camp, located on top of the glacier, you'll be provided with overalls, and a helmet and your guide will show you how to operate a snowmobile. You don’t have to worry if you’ve never ridden one before, it is fairly simple, and anyone with a driver’s license can do it. Those who don’t have a license can sit on the back as passengers.

You’ll race across the wintery landscape on your snowmobile, crisscrossing the powdery snow as you make your way towards the man-made ice cave tunnels that will lead you deep into the glacier's depths.

Inside the glacier, your expert guide will lead you through the tunnel’s vivid blue halls, and tell you about glaciers, from their formation to the dangers they face with the warming climate. You’ll see the chapel where both weddings and concerts have been held, as well as some rooms that are constantly changing.

After the guided tour inside the ice cave tunnels, you’ll head back on the snowmobile and ride to the base camp. From there, it is a short drive in the large, custom vehicle back to Húsafell where you can relax after an eventful trip by soaking in the geothermal waters of the Húsafell swimming pool and hot tub.

On your way back to Reykjavík, you’ll make a couple more stops to marvel at some of West Iceland’s most beautiful locations. On board the bus is an audio guide so make sure you bring your headphones on this tour.

A great tour, we had to cancel our snowmobile part due to bad weather, but the icecave was absolutely gorgeous, so overall we were pretty happy.
