East Iceland is famous for its picturesque hiking trails, beautiful landscapes and friendly inhabitants. Before you begin the day's adventure, you will be driven from the small fishing town of Egilsstaðir, passing Lake Lagarfljót and finally going through Hallormsstaðarskógur Forest.

You will be transferred to the hike's starting point where you will meet your friendly and highly experienced trekking guide at the Wilderness Centre in Fljótsdalur Valley. They will proceed to brief you on the day's itinerary, answer any outstanding questions and provide you with any equipment you might need on the tour.

When everyone is ready, you will begin hiking the marked trail into a world of mystic waterfalls, bewitching cliff faces, steep canyons and blossoming wildflowers. This truly is a Nordic paradise.

Feel free to take your time with this hike, making the most of photographic opportunities, or simply to soak in your surroundings. Remember, the geology of this landscape is largely unchanged from the last Ice Age.

Your hike will end at Laugarfell Highland Hostel. Here, it's time to change into your swimming suit and hit the natural hot pools. For years, locals have claimed that these mineral-rich waters have restorative qualities, a point hard to argue as your muscles relax under the soothing warmth of the pool.

When everyone is finished soaking and relaxing, you will dry off and be transferred back Egilsstaðir.

Tie up your laces tight and take to trail with this fantastic hiking tour exploring the wilderness of east Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
