Iceland On Your Own | Circle Road and Highlands Bus Passport

Explore Iceland on your own terms and in your own time by purchasing the Full Circle Bus Passport. With one of these, you can hop on and off any buses on the selected route, which encircles the country. This allows you to see as much of Iceland as possible without worrying about driving or paying dearly for a personal guide.

You can decide which way you want to see the circle of Iceland, clockwise or counterclockwise. The bus passport allows you to travel without further charge in just one of these directions, but if you wish to backtrack, you will get a 10% discount on that part of the journey.

This discount also applies if you also want to detour to a location that is connected to another ‘Iceland on Your Own’ bus package but is excluded from this route.

By taking the Full Circle Bus Passport, you give yourself access to almost every highlight the country has to offer. You will get to see the diverse sites of the South Coast, such as the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and Skaftafell Nature Reserve, and the beautiful mountains and coastlines of the East Fjords.

Following that, you can admire the dramatic landscapes of Iceland’s north, such as those around Mývatn and Ásbyrgi canyon; the Kjölur Highland Road with its unreal lunar landscapes; and the famous sites of the west, such as those on the Golden Circle.

This passport is thus perfect for those who want to make the very most of their time here. It also suits those on a budget, as the ticket is much cheaper than a car rental.

To prepare for your full circle adventure, it is wise to book accommodation in advance, as guesthouses, hotels, and campsites all grow particularly busy throughout summer. Other than your lodgings, all you need to worry about is following the bus timetable (taking care to consider that weather and road conditions could affect it). There will be at least one departure a day from all locations, although most places will have several, adding to the amount of freedom you will have.

Book your Full Circle Bus Passport to travel all around Iceland on your own terms, while staying on a budget. Check availability by choosing a date.
