Icelandic Highlands in the Winter | Super Jeep Tour to Landmannalaugar
Many of the hills within Landmannalaugar are comprised of rhyolite rock.
You will be driven through the Highlands by an experienced driver and guide.
There are not many tours that venture into the Highlands during the winter months.
Landmannalaugar translates to 'The Pools of the People' in English.
Landmannalaugar is known for its wild country and colourful rhyolite hillsides.
In the sunlight, the colours of Landmannalaugar's hillsides appear to change colour as you move past them.

Prepare for an extraordinary winter adventure riding in a Super-Jeep into the wild and wonderful Icelandic Highlands. This is the perfect tour opportunity for avid travellers looking to experience something truly unique during their stay in Iceland.

This tour will begin with a pick up from your Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík. You will then be driven to the small, yet quaint town of Hveragerði, where you will stop at a local bakery for breakfast if you so choose. Afterwards, you will be driven through Selfoss town and Þjórsárdalur valley while your guide provides you with information on the area.

On your journey into the Highlands, you will also see one of Iceland’s most iconic volcanoes, Hekla, as well as make a stop at the volcanic area of Hrauneyjar, the perfect place to take photographs and soak in the surrounding nature.

Given their distance, size and elevation, the Icelandic Highlands are normally considered too inhospitable for visitors in the winter months, with the majority of bus companies cancelling their trips for the season.

However, in a specially equipped Super Jeep, and under the guidance of an experienced driver, you can discover this stunning region blanketed in fresh white snow. The jeeps come complete with WiFi and charging ports, meaning there is no chance of your phone or camera running out of battery.

Once you arrive in Landmannalaugar, you will spend time bathing in a geothermal pool, relaxing your muscles and recollecting back on the adventures of the day. Make sure to bring your swimming gear and a towel!

When your time in the Highlands is over, you will make the return journey back to Reykjavík, making a couple of stops at Hrauneyjar volcanic zone and either Landvegamót shop or Hveragerði town for snacks.

So don’t miss out on your opportunity to experience the Highlands during the cold, but beautiful winter months. Check availability by choosing a date.
