Description

Discover the wonders of the beautiful Thorsmork Valley from a super jeep with this incredible six-hour excursion. Those eager to explore and hike in this unspoiled nature reserve in the Icelandic Highlands will love this small-group tour.

Your excursion starts at the meeting point, which is the Seljalandsfoss parking lot. You’ll meet the rest of the tour group and the expert local guide showing you around the Thorsmork Valley.

This sightseeing trip is a small-group tour with a maximum of six people on each excursion. You’ll get to know the other people on the tour and have plenty of opportunities to ask your guide questions about the Thorsmork Valley.

When you’re ready, it’s time to set off in the super jeep. A super jeep is a modified 4x4 vehicle specially adapted for off-road driving in Iceland. These all-terrain vehicles usually have larger wheels and extended suspension.

A super jeep can travel where other vehicles can’t, which is especially useful for visiting the remote Highlands of Iceland. They can handle rugged terrain and even cross rivers.

If the weather is fine, your first stop will be the Stakkholtsgja canyon, a hidden gem in Iceland that travelers rarely visit. Only accessible during summer, this canyon has a walking trail that leads to a beautiful waterfall.

Once you’ve admired this natural wonder and taken plenty of photographs, your group will head into the Thorsmork Valley.

Thorsmork valley gets its name from Thor, the Norse god of thunder. Located between the Eyjafjallajokull, Myrdalsjokull, and Tindfjallajokull glaciers, Thorsmork is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, making this nature reserve a popular hiking destination.

Thorsmork is a land of contrasts with lush green vegetation, roaring glacier rivers, and black sand expanses. It’s a unique place to visit, not only in Iceland but in the world.

You’ll hike to the top of Valahnukur, one of the most well-known mountains in the Thorsmork Valley. The peak is often included on the popular multi-day hiking trek, the Laugavegur trail, which connects Thorsmork to Landmannalaugar.

Valahnukur mountain has an elevation of 1,500 feet (around 458 meters) and offers spectacular views from the summit. You can see over the forests and glaciers of the Highlands to the South Coast from the top.

Once you’ve finished admiring the view, it’s time to return to the super jeep. After another exciting ride, you’ll arrive at the Seljalandsfoss parking lot to continue your journey.

Don’t miss this six-hour experience exploring the unique landscapes of the Thorsmork Valley by super jeep and on foot. Check availability now by choosing a date.
