Make the decision of a lifetime by booking this incredibly beautiful hike up Iceland's most popular glacier, Snæfellsjökull, all under the twilight rays of the midnight sun. Amazing pink and blue skyscapes illuminate the twinkling expanse of the ice cap, making this tour an unmissable opportunity for any summer travellers to the  Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Your tour will begin mid-evening at the head office at Gufuskálar on Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Your experienced and personable guide will set about teaching you the scientific reasoning behind the midnight sun, as well as share fascinating stories and facts about Snæfellsjökull itself.

Following that, they will provide all of the required hiking gear; hiking boots, crampons, harness, a helmet, etc. If the conditions necessitate it, your guide will provide snowshoes to help alleviate your hike. Once you are geared up, a 4x4 shuttle will drive you to the next vehicle, the tracked Snowcat; a truck-sized cab specifically designed for pushing through the snow.

Sit back and relax as your driver climbs the snowcat to an elevation of 1000 metres, revealing panoramas that are sure to take your breath away. When you are fully dressed, it is time to hike the remaining 350 m to Snæfellsjökull's north summit for your best look at the midnight sun!

From here, the midnight sun will slowly begin to descend, bathing the glacial landscape in orange light and offering a fantastic panorama over Breiðafjörður Bay, Snæfellsnes Peninsula and Faxaflói Bay. Standing at the north summit, in the dead of night, under the glory of sunshine, is the closest that reality can come to a dreamscape. You will not want to forget your camera!

This tour requires at least an average level of physical fitness, although the pace of the hike itself is relatively relaxed. Hurry now so as not to miss out on your chance to experience the majesty of Snæfellsjökull in the twilight—and for the opportunity to bag some incredible photography along the way.
