Northern Lights Photo Tour

4 hours
English, Icelandic
Jan. - Apr.

On a winter night with clear or partly clear sky and weather permitting, we head out to some beautiful locations in South- or West Iceland, to search for the Northern Lights. This is a small group experience in a 4x4 truck, only up to 4 people on each tour. You should bring your camera and a tripod with you to capture your photos of the Aurora borealis and remember to bring fully charged batteries and enough memory cards for the night. I will also take pictures of you with the northern lights in the background and send them to you after the tour with no extra cost. Remember to dress according to weather, it can be cold standing outside in the Icelandic winter, waiting for the lights to show up.

Normally the tour is 4 hours from the time I pick you up, until you come back again to your hotel. I will pick you up at your hotel, or the nearest Bus-stop, and will let you know few hours before the tour. Usually the best possibilities to see the Northern Lights are between 20:00 and 03:00 hours at night, and I plan in advance where the best conditions are according to weather forecast, cloud coverage and some interesting landscape and foreground, such as Thingvellir national park. I might have to change the plans if the weather conditions are not favorable, trying the day after instead if you are available and able to change plans. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of seeing the Northern Lights, even though we try our best, and if I think there are little or no chances of seeing any Northern lights, I will cancel the tour before 16:00 hours on the day of the tour. In that case, you will get a refund for the tour.

Pick-up and drop-off at your chosen accommodation in the Reykjavik area or in south Iceland, a ride in a comfortable 4x4 truck and photo guidance on location. Crampons are supplied if needed for safety reasons.
