You’ll meet your guides in Patreksfjörður, a charming fishing village close to many of the Westfjords' most popular attractions. There, you’ll board a large jeep and take a quick tour of the town before making your way to Látrabjarg cliff.

Látrabjarg is Europe’s largest bird cliff with a length of 14 kilometres and a height of 441 metres. A variety of birds make Látrabjarg their home in the summer, including puffins, razorbills, guillemots, and northern gannets. 

You’ll get a spectacular view over Rauðasandur beach and the surrounding inlets and fjords as you drive towards the deserted Keflavík beach. Your expert driver will manoeuvre the car up steep hills and rough, high altitude roads as you travel between destinations.

You’ll make a stop at the Heritage Museum at Hnjótur where a large US Navy plane sits in the front yard. There, you’ll see a unique display of old items showcasing the history of fishing, farming and everyday life in the area. At the museum, you will also learn about the rescue of a British trawler that stranded at Látrabjarg in 1947.

You’ll then visit the red sand beach of Rauðasandur. The colour of the beach changes depending on weather conditions. In the summer’s sun, the sand is dazzling red, getting its colour from crushed scallop shells. Keep an eye out for the area’s plentiful wildlife; you might spot a seal or two. After a memorable day, you’ll return to Patreksfjörður village in time for dinner.
