Meet the kind and gentle Icelandic horse on this family-friendly tour where you'll get to pet these lovely creatures and bring home some fantastic photographic memories. Animal lovers travelling in North Iceland should not let this great opportunity pass them by.
The tour starts at a lovely guesthouse just outside of the northern town of Akureyri. After meeting the friendly guides, it is time to meet the friendly horses. You will be lead into the corral where you can get to know these gentle animals in a relaxed setting.
The guides will tell you all about the Icelandic horse, about their five unique gaits and how they have survived in the harsh Icelandic environment for centuries, and they will be more than happy to answer any and all questions you might have about these remarkable creatures.
The horses will then be taken out of the corral and into the beautiful Icelandic nature which surrounds the guesthouse. This is the perfect backdrop for photographs as the guesthouse sits on the edge of the beautiful Eyjafjörður fjord.
You will have around 45 minutes to photograph these beautiful animals, so make sure you remember your camera, phone or selfie stick. The guide will find the perfect spot to create some memorable pictures of you and one of the horses, and there is even a private, black, sandy beach nearby which serves as an excellent photography location.
After the photography session, you and your guides will lead the horses back to the corral where you can reward these lovely models with a nice treat; your guide will give you a piece of bread (the horses' favourite treat) which you can feed them.
Before you bid farewell to the guides, you are invited to enjoy free tea, coffee or hot chocolate at the guesthouse, and relax in the onsite hot tub which overlooks the mountains and fjord.
Come along on this kid-friendly tour and meet, photograph and feet the lovely Icelandic horse. Check availability by choosing a date.
