Description

Join this amazing private tour of the Snæfellsnes peninsula and enjoy pretty villages, fascinating rock formations, the majestic Snæfellsjökull glacier volcano, the world-famous Kirkjufell mountain and much more. Taking a private tour means your guide can focus on your interests and answer all of your questions in attentive depth.

Departing from Reykjavík, you will be driven north through the beautiful town of Borgarnes where you will have the chance to make an extra stop at the Settlement Centre. There you can view the settlement exhibition and get acquainted with the history of Iceland.

Your first stop on the Snæfellsnes peninsula will be the Gerðuberg cliffs which are made from columnar basalt; a rare and beautiful natural phenomenon. It’s possible to walk up to the cliffs and get a better view of the picturesque peninsula in all its glory.

There will be a pitstop at Ölkelda, where you can fill your water bottle with mineral spring water straight from the ground before moving on to Langaholt beach; a beautiful stretch of coastline made up of golden sands with majestic mountain views.

Your next stop will be the black church at Búðir, a striking structure that makes for an excellent photo subject. Once you’ve finished at Búðir, you’ll move on to the settlement of Arnarstapi where you will find the rock arch Gatklettur; known for its beauty and inhabited by several different species of seabird.

During the booking process, you can opt to visit Vatnshellir cave for the unique opportunity to explore a dormant lava tube. You will then proceed to Djúpalónssandur beach, characterised by its black sands, historical lifting stones and breathtaking rock formations. Your next stop is Hellissandur, where you will get to see traditional turf houses.

The tour continues to the famous Mount Kirkjufell, an elevation you may recognise as it is considered the most photographed mountain in Iceland. At 463-meters high, this symmetrical and beautifully shaped free-standing mountain makes for quite the sight.

You have the option to add a stop at the farm, Bjarnarhöfn to visit the shark museum and taste traditional fermented shark followed by a shot of Brennivín (Icelandic schnapps), an old Icelandic tradition, dating all the way back to the Viking era. Entrance to the museum is not included in the tour price but can be added during the booking process.

Book today and embark on an incredible exploration of Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Check availability by choosing a date.
