Explore the wonders of the South Coast on this small-group tour, visiting the area’s most beautiful waterfalls, as well as active volcanoes and an ethereal black beach. If you want to experience Iceland's esteemed southern shore landscapes without boarding the big buses, this is the adventure for you.

After a pickup in Reykjavík City, you will meet and greet your experienced local guide and leave the city limits behind, beginning your drive along the South Coast, one of Iceland’s most celebrated sightseeing routes.

Your first scheduled stop is at the scenic waterfall Urriðafoss, a hidden gem often skipped by the tour buses. Located in the cascade of Þjórsá River, these beautiful falls are set to leave this world soon, as plans to build hydropower stations are underway in the area.

Next up is one of the shoreline’s highlights, the grand waterfall Seljalandsfoss. During the summer season, visitors who don’t mind a little mist can walk behind the waterfall into a hidden cave, providing unique views through the curtain of cascading water.

Moving on, get ready to feast your eyes on the volcanic ice cap that made headlines in world-news after its last eruption in 2010, Eyjafjallajökull Glacier. You will stop at the visitor centre by the foot of the glacier, a family-run facility offering an inside-look on what it’s like having an active volcano looming over one’s own backyard.

Next on the agenda is Skógafoss Waterfall, a true water giant with a drop of 60 metres (22 feet) and a total width of 25 metres (82 feet). These falls tumble over cliffs of Iceland’s former coastline, clearly separating the lush coastal lowlands from the barren Icelandic Highlands.

Then, you’ll continue to arrive at the coastal village Vík and its residential Reynisfjara Beach, a stunning stretch of volcanic black sand. Beware of the sneaker waves, but do look out to sea for a clear view of the Reynisdrangar and Dyrhólaey rock formations, constantly battered by the merciless waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Don’t miss out on this incredible adventure exploring the South Shore of Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
