Description

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula with this small-group day tour. This is a perfect option for those who love sightseeing but would rather avoid the massive tourist buses.

You will be picked up in Reykjavík in a minibus, which has an absolute maximum capacity of twenty, including a friendly, experienced guide. Following that, you will head north out of the capital.

Before reaching the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, you will stop for refreshments in the charming, historic town of Borgarnes.

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is often called ‘Miniature Iceland’ as basically every type of natural feature that makes the country famous can be found here, including waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, lava fields and hot springs.

The first feature you will admire is the cliff of Gerðuberg. Here, you will find rows upon rows of hexagonal basalt columns, shaped so perfectly that they barely seem natural. These are a perfect introduction to the fascinating examples of geology located across the peninsula.

You will see another geological wonder a little further down, in the form of the basalt plugs. Located by the charming fishing villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar, this dramatic coastal formation is an excellent place for a short walk, as well as one of the best bird-watching spots on the peninsula.

Just after this, you will enter Snæfellsjökull National Park. As the name suggests, this is the home of the mighty glacier Snæfellsjökull. Surrounded by lava fields, and snow-capped throughout the year, it is a marvellous site and brilliant subject for photography.

The peninsula's only mountain that compares to Snæfellsjökull's striking beauty is Kirkjufell, on the northern shore. This standalone peak has a charming adjacent waterfall and is surrounded by wonderful seascapes.

These are but a few of the awe-inspiring sites you will see on this day tour of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Book now to ensure that you do not miss them. Check availability by choosing a date.
