Explore the wonders of Iceland’s incredible south coast on this comprehensive day tour; see famous and unique locations, hike a glacier, bathe in a hot spring, and explore a lava cave.

You will be picked up from your Reykjavík accommodation in the morning and begin your journey southeast. This stretch of coastline is famed for its wealth of landmarks and diverse scenery, all visible from the main road. Before you even reach any attraction, for example, you will be able to see Eyjafjallajökull, the sub-glacial volcano that erupted in 2010, and perhaps even the Westman Islands in the seas to the south.

The first stops, however, will be at two famous waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is unique in the sense that it is possible to fully encircle the plunging water for some incredible views. Skógafoss, meanwhile, is much more classic, with a powerful, dramatic cascade.

You will reach the glacier tongue Sólheimajökull next, where you will partake in your glacier hike. The landscapes atop an ice-cap are ethereal and the hiking itself is an adventure of a lifetime. Your guide will fascinate you with stories about the history and natural laws behind this incredible natural phenomenon and all the necessary equipment will be provided, just do not forget to bring some sturdy boots.

After this excursion, you will head into the black sand desert of Sólheimasandur, where the wreckage of a crashed aircraft lays alone in the desolate landscape. This is an excellent spot for photography, and you will learn all about what happened to this plane from your guide.

Once you have recharged, you will go on one caving adventure before heading home. There is a fascinating, beautiful world beneath the surface of Iceland’s lava fields, formed by volcanic forces, and few are lucky enough to get the chance to explore it. Again, all the equipment needed for caving will be provided.

Enjoy glacier hiking, lava caving, geothermal bathing and classic sightseeing all within a day on this immersive tour. Check availability by choosing a date.

I went to Iceland at the end of October and participated in this glacier walk on the first day. Our guide is Vala, a very passionate girl. This group needs physical strength, and it takes physical strength to climb glaciers and ride a bike on the sand to watch plane wreck. We started at 8 o'clock in the morning and arrive at Reykjavik at 10 o'clock in the evening. Very rich day, it is worth the experience.

This was truly a 14-hour action packed day! 4 of my friends and I did the South Elements tour with Michael - he was knowledgeable, intelligent, and passionate about Iceland and a genuine lover of nature. This excursion included 3-4 activities and before each one, we got hit with nervousness but after each one of them, we all felt like Badasses! LOL. They are all very different and it's something we've never done before! Glacier hiking, fat biking against gale force winds, going under a cave and walking on all of those rocks - intense! The tour would've kept on going if it had rained that day and we are grateful it didn't! Wish there were more bathroom/food stops though but our guide did make it clear that they will be minimal so that we can cover all of those excursions. Just make sure to pack tons of snacks cuz it's literally like an all-day obstacle course. We also took some volcanic ash home for our facials! Lol. It was one of our greatest experiences and we thank Mike for exposing us to the uniqueness of Iceland!!

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT TOUR! loved every moment of this tour. But warnings -- this is an extremely active tour involving lots of physical activities. So please rest well the day before and don't plan anything too crazy the day after. Our guide Stefano is so cool, helpful and funny at the same time. He took care of everyone throughout the day, managed our time carefully and shared many good stories about the country. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a day of adventure. About the activities: - Glacier hiking is definitely a highlight -- it will not be what you expect! - Mountain biking is superb! (especially when everyone else at that place is walking! enjoyed the mountain bikes so much) - beautiful waterfalls throughout the day (multiple stops, excellent views)

So this tour was incredible. Depending on the nature of your group, the more stuff you might be able to do. Our tour guide Maria was beyond awesome. We did all the elements as described in the tour - and because our group had such energy - our tour ended up going for about 16 hours - started at 8am and didn't get home till close to midnight. It literally was one adventure after another with great conversation as well as flexibility. I would recommend this for a day tour to anyone wanting to hit the major spots in iceland but also having more than just a "see stuff tour" you actually get to get your hands dirty on this one.

This tour was an absolute blast! If I had only one day on Iceland... I would be satisfied with this tour because it basically covers all the highlights! Ziggy, our guide, was great and very knowledgeable. I always felt safe with him during our activities. I will say that this tour is definitely active so you have to be willing to put in the work to truly enjoy it. One of the best tours I've ever taken!

Our group loved this tour! Even though it rained most of the day, we still walked away feeling amazed and excited at all we got to do and see. The difficulty level of the activities was accessible for all of us (reasonably fit adults), and the main challenges were, at times, nerve-wracking heights. Our tour guide, Thoray (sp?), as well as our glacier guide Jakob, were great - very knowledgeable and fun! Everything we saw this day was so beautiful, and well worth the money! Highly recommend!!!

This was truly worth every penny. The weather was absolutely brutal, but that's part of the Iceland experience, and we still got to do everything on the agenda. Our guide, Henrik, was awesome, super knowledgeable and helpful in every aspect. When they say this tour is demanding, it's true!! But absolutely worth every sore muscle. Just bring plenty of warm layers and don't forget gloves!
