Strokkur is a geyser that can be found on the Golden Circle.

Join this Golden Circle excursion with a twist to experience both the famous sites and hidden gems off the beaten track. If you want an authentic local experience as you take in the marvels of Iceland’s most esteemed sightseeing route, this is the excursion for you.

Your adventure begins as you get picked up in Reykjavík City, but the tour takes place onboard a comfortable minibus with a limited number of passengers, making your experience more personal and intimate than with the bigger tour buses.

Your first destination is Þingvellir National Park, a stunning rift valley sitting at the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The great Almannagjá gorge marks the boundary of the North-American and Eurasian tectonic plates, creating a stunning visual display of the powers operating beneath the planet’s surface.

Next up is the Geysir geothermal area, dotted with steaming fumaroles and bubbling mud pools, as well as the geyser Strokkur that puts on a show every few minutes, spouting boiling water into the air as high as 40 metres.

The third and final attraction of the Golden Circle will be Gullfoss waterfall, a roaring beast of unharnessed power cascading down two tiers into a massive canyon below. But your tour isn’t over yet!

In additions to these natural marvels, you’ll also visit two additional waterfalls, being the salmon-infested Faxi and the beautiful Urriðafoss. Then, there’s the crater lake Kerið, a volcanic caldera boasting stunning and vivid colours, as the blue lake contrasts sharply with the red rocks and green moss.

On your way back to Reykjavík, you’ll take a different route than most to arrive at a natural black sand beach, where you can enjoy the volcanic surroundings and wide empty spaces, free from crowds of other travellers.

Don’t miss your chance in participating in this alternative Golden Circle tour, for a unique travel experience in Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
