The Golden Circle and Langjokull Glacier | Sightseeing and Super Jeep Adventure
The small church in Þingvellir National Park is still often used to host cultural events.
A view over the lake of Þingvallavatn in winter, just south of Þingvellir National Park on the Golden Circle.
Captured before the midnight sun, the geyser Strokkur blasts boiling water from the depths of the earth.
The column of water from Strokkur geyser slants in the wind on a summer's day.
Many massive hot springs lie dormant at the Geysir Geothermal Area, but may erupt again in the future.
The two-steeped waterfall Gullfoss is a marvellous feature to visit, be it in summer or winter.

Combine two awesome Icelandic adventures into a single day: go sightseeing around the three legendary sites of the Golden Circle, and take a super jeep adventure onto Langjökull glacier.

This tour should not be missed by those who want to immerse themselves in Icelandic nature, while still making the most of the adventure opportunities available.

The day begins when your guide will pick you up from Reykjavík in a super jeep designed to handle Iceland’s challenging terrain. You will then head inland, to one of the country’s most fascinating places and its only UNESCO World Heritage Site: Þingvellir National Park.

Þingvellir is world renowned for two reasons. Firstly, it sits directly between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, leading to some stunning geology and vistas. Secondly, it is the original site of the Alþingi National Assembly, which is now the oldest active parliament in the world.

Following Þingvellir, you will continue to the Geysir Geothermal Area in Haukadalur Valley, where Iceland’s most famous geysers are located. Though the area’s namesake, Geysir itself, is currently inactive, the nearby Strokkur isn’t; it blasts water up to twenty metres high every five to ten minutes. Surrounding these two features are many hot springs and fumaroles.

Finally, you’ll reach the final spot of the Golden Circle, the Golden Waterfall. Otherwise known as Gullfoss, it falls into an ancient valley, carved out in the last Ice Age, in two tiers, and can be admired from several viewing platforms around it.

With the sightseeing component of this tour done, you will move onto the super jeep adventure onto Langjökull glacier; the water that feeds into Gullfoss comes from this ice cap, and it is just a short drive away.

Only super jeeps modified for Iceland’s terrain can ascend the icy slopes and deep snow of the glaciers. Being able to ride upon one is, therefore, a unique and thrilling experience, that will provide you with spectacular views of the glacier itself and the surrounding nature of the highlands.

After an exciting journey, you will take the scenic drive back to Reykjavík.

Don’t miss this exciting super jeep combination. Check availability by choosing a date.
