Come along on this fantastic tour of the famous Golden Circle sightseeing route. You will not only see historical sites, erupting geysers and cascading waterfalls—you’ll also visit the fascinating Friðheimar greenhouses. Those wanting a new twist to a classic route, should not miss this tour.

In the morning, you’ll be picked up in Reykjavík and taken to your first adventure of the day, seeing the UNESCO world heritage site Þingvellir National Park where Iceland’s parliament, Alþingi, was founded over a thousand years ago.

The site is not just historically significant, it has geological importance as well. Þingvellir is not located on either the Eurasian nor the North American tectonic plate, but in a rift valley between. The plates are slowly drifting apart, causing cracks and canyons in the landscape around.

From there you’ll move on to Iceland’s most famous water feature, the erupting hot springs at Geysir geothermal area. The most active geyser is Strokkur, which erupts in a 15-20 metre water column every 5-10 minutes, providing you with numerous opportunities to take the perfect selfie.

The last attraction of the Golden Circle route is Iceland’s most beloved waterfall Gullfoss. Freezing glacial water from the river Hvítá plunges down 32-metre creating this two-tiered cascade. The thundering noises of the waterfall will echo in your ears as you board the vehicle heading to the next location, Friðheimar greenhouse.

At Friðheimar, the knowledgeable and friendly staff will tell you how Icelanders have learnt to harness the geothermal energy from the earth to grow tomatoes, fruit and vegetables that would otherwise not be possible to grow in such a cold-temperate climate. You'll then jump back into the vehicle and return to Reykjavík city.

Get the essential Icelandic experience by visiting the classic Golden Circle route but add in a new spin. Check availability by choosing a date.
