Þórsmörk's forest. Even though some people giggle at it's size, we still call it a forest!

Hike through the Valley of Thor, with this day tour to the beautiful Þórsmörk Nature Reserve. This tour should not be missed by those who love untouched nature and have a reasonable level of fitness, ready for trekking by foot.

Þórsmörk is one of Iceland's most beautiful valleys. It is securely surrounded by three glaciers - Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull - making it extremely hard to reach. After picking you up in Reykjavík in a modified Super Jeep, therefore, your skilled guide will take you on a thrilling drive across rivers and over bumpy Highland tracks.

Of course, on your journey, you'll have numerous opportunities to stop and take photos.

Before reaching Þórsmörk, you'll detour to visit the roots of Gígjökull glacier to observe the impact of the terrible 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption, where you'll also see a frozen river of lava.

Your guides have been operating hiking tours and Super Jeep tours into Þórsmörk for many years and know the valley inside out; this means they'll be able to find the best hiking paths based on the conditions of the day.

You will spend your time going along beautiful rivers, through areas of verdant vegetation, past stunning waterfalls, and through dramatic canyons. You can expect to have fantastic views of the glaciers too. This entire region looks like it was plucked from a fantasy novel.

A stop is then made at the famous Volcano Hut, located deep in the valley. There you will enjoy a lovely meal, which is included in the price.

Your guides have a passion for the Icelandic nature and absolutely love their job. They will provide you with fun stories about the folklore, history and geology of the area, before returning you to Reykjavík.

This hiking tour is perfect for experienced hikers as well as the whole family. Don't let it pass you by. Check availability by choosing a date.
