Hop aboard a mighty super jeep for a day tour of South Iceland, visiting the lush valley of Þórsmörk and the infamous glacier volcano Eyjafjallajökull. This tour includes both sightseeing and hiking, and should not be missed by anyone staying in Reykjavík looking to witness the most pristine and magical landscapes of Iceland.

Your journey begins with a pickup in the capital in the morning, where you will step aboard the super jeep and get to know your friendly local guide for the day. Then, you’ll begin travelling south-east, through a magnificent mountain pass and the lava plateau Hellisheiði, until reaching the geothermal town of Hveragerði.

The hills surrounding the town are dotted with active steam vents and greenhouses heated via volcanic hot springs. Continuing onwards, you’ll soon pass through the bustling town of Selfoss, before arriving at the small and picturesque Hella village. There, you might fit in a visit to the Saga Centre dedicated to the epic Saga of Njáll.

Then, it’s time to leave the Ring Road behind to venture into the depths of Þórsmörk valley, an idyllic woodland surrounded by looming glaciers, including the one and only Eyjafjalljökull. As you take in the serene surroundings, you’ll realise why this location is known as the Valley of the Thunder God, Thor.

As you continue, you’ll be treading along the mountain roads of the Highlands, where your super jeep gets a chance to shine as it wades powerful glacier rivers to bring you to destinations unreachable by a normal car.

You will stop at the base of Gígjökull glacier, before embarking on a scenic hike into gorgeous river canyons, taking the time to explore the stunning ravine that is Stakkaholtsgjá.

On your way back to Reykjavík, you’ll make one last stop, at the picturesque Seljalandsfoss waterfall on the South Coast. These falls are all the more special since they boast an accessible cave, where you can enjoy a unique view from behind the cascading curtain of water.

After having explored all these sights and taken unbelievable photos to your heart’s content, you’ll return to Reykjavík City in the evening.

Don’t miss out on this exciting and versatile day tour, where you’ll visit astounding natural attractions while travelling in a modified super jeep. Check availability by choosing a date.
