Volcanoes & Glaciers Helicopter Tour

Volcanoes & Glaciers Helicopter Tour
From above, Iceland's nature often resembles an abstract painting.
Where exactly you land is down to the discretion of the pilot; wherever it is, however, is sure to knock your socks off.
The diversity of Iceland's landscape and terrain is absolutely breath taking.
The only way to get a true appreciation of the size of Iceland's glaciers is to fly over them.
A helicopter tour allows you to circle over interesting geological features, such as steaming volcanic vents.
A Helicopter Tour provides the VIP treatment for visitors travelling in Iceland.

Take flight and witness the spectacular sites of Iceland's South Coast on this incredible helicopter tour. This sweeping excursion should not be missed by adrenaline junkies or avid sightseers.

You will begin at Reykjavík Domestic Airport, where your pilot for the day will introduce you to your planned route and the chopper. You will hop inside, buckle up, then brace yourself as you soar up into the sky.

The views across Reykjavík will be instantly spectacular; you will be able to see sights such as the Harpa Concert Hall and Hallgrímskirkja Church, as well as the beautiful seascapes of Faxaflói bay, up to the tabletop mountain of Esja. After enjoying these awesome views, you will begin your journey out into Iceland’s unmatched wild nature.

Your first destination will be the forested valley of Þórsmörk Nature Reserve, a place so grand and beautiful, it was named after the Norse God of Thunder, Thor. Here, you will make a landing on the majestic crater of Fimmvörðuháls to enjoy the fresh air, marvel over the landscapes, and take as many photographs as possible.

Once back in the helicopter, you will soar over to the peak of Eyjafjallajökull, the notorious volcanic ice cap that erupted in 2010, causing widespread disruption to air traffic. You will also follow one of its glacial tongues, Gígjökull, that was melted in half by a current of boiling lava. In this area, you are also likely to see another explosive peak, Hekla, and the Westman Islands that rest by the South Coast of Iceland.

On your return journey, you will travel along the hundreds of kilometres of haunting black sands that define the coastline of the South. The otherworldly beaches below you have been featured in many science-fiction and fantasy shows and movies, such as Oblivion, Prometheus, and Game of Thrones.

Finally, you will return to Reykjavík’s Domestic Airport, still likely breath-taken by the incredible sights and the adventure of your flight.

Don’t miss this chance to witness the awesome vistas of Iceland’s south from above. Check availability by choosing a date.
