Are you visiting Iceland in winter and are looking for a unique wildlife experience?
A winter whale watching tour from Snaefellsnes peninsula is a unique experience. Join our three-hour tour from Grundarfjordur on the Northside of the West Iceland peninsula and have a great time out at sea.
Nowhere else in Iceland is there a better chance to see orcas, also called killer whales. Orcas are very social animals, and they live in family groups. Orcas belong to the dolphin family and are immediately recognisable by their distinctive black-and-white colouring and their long dorsal fin. Other species we regularly see on our tours from Grundarfjordur are dolphins, humpback whales and sperm whales. Each creature is unique, and a sighting is an incredible experience.
We offer responsible whale watching tours, where we aim to bring our customers as close to the whales as possible without disturbing them. We operate our whale trips on a modern and comfortable boat and provide our guests with warm overalls to put on over their clothing to keep them cosy out at sea.
In the unfortunate event of no whale or dolphin sighting, passengers will be given a ticket to reschedule for another trip. Breiðafjörður Bay is also known for its diverse birdlife, and we often see diving gannets and other birds on our whale watching tours.
This whale watching tour is perfect for nature lovers who are travelling the Snæfellsnes peninsula and want to add a unique twist to their holiday. Enjoy a great day out to sea. Meet the whales of Iceland while witnessing the beautiful coastline of Snaefellsnes with the famous Mount Kirkjufell. On a clear day, keep an eye out for Snaefellsjokull glacier at the very end of the peninsula.
