Description

Book this thrilling adventure and dive where the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates meet at the gorgeous Silfra fissure. The filtered glacial water has a visibility up to 120 metres, making it one of the clearest dive sites in the world.

The Silfra fissure continues to widen ever so slightly every year and it is filled with crystal clear glacial water. The reason for the clearness of the water is because it runs through the lava fields and gets filtered on the way to Silfra. It takes the water a few decades to reach Silfra from the glacier Langjökull and making this most pristine water on the planet and a unique dive site.

Your Silfra diving experience begins with a pick up from your accommodation or from a bus stop in Reykjavík city centre. During the one-hour drive to Þingvellir National Park, your guide will introduce you to the unique geological and cultural history of Silfra and the surrounding Þingvellir area.

All divers on this Silfra diving tour must have dry suit diving certification or have logged 10 dry suit dives within two years of the Silfra dive date, which must be confirmed with written proof from a diving instructor or a log book with instructor signature.

Divers must understand English instructions for the diving tour and be 18-years or older. Please note that all divers have to read, fill out and sign a diving medical statement for this tour. Divers that are 60-years or older need to bring a physician’s approval that they are fit to dive to be able to join this tour.

The dive lasts for about 35-40 minutes. A light current will lead you to the end of the dive in the beautiful Silfra Lagoon. After exiting the water there, you will walk about-350 meters back to the car park where there will be hot chocolate and biscuits waiting for you to help you warm up before you head back to Reykjavík.

Do not miss out on this opportunity to dive in some of the clearest water in the world at Silfra. Check availability by choosing a date.
