Frequently asked questions

What is included in a guided tour in Iceland?

Complimentary pick-up and drop-off to all major guesthouses and hotels in Reykjavik, full transportation, and professional tour guides with experience. Larger tour operators also include free WiFi and digital entertainment on their coaches.

Is admission to the Blue Lagoon included in the price of my guided tour in Iceland?

It depends on the tour you choose. Please note the terms and conditions outlined in the tour description to see whether the Blue Lagoon Spa admission is included or not.

Is lunch included in my guided tour in Iceland?

Generally, lunch is not included unless otherwise specified. It is recommended that you bring a packed lunch with you on the tour as not all tours will include stops at cafes or shops.

What do I need to pack for a guided tour in Iceland?

On day tours, only the bare necessities are needed. It is advised to bring a small backpack with you to carry water, spare clothing items, and, of course, your camera. If you are traveling on multi-day tours, you will be granted space on board for one large piece of luggage. Please keep this in mind when packing and try to store any excess luggage elsewhere if you possibly can.

What is the maximum capacity for guided tours?

Usually, there is no maximum capacity, though groups normally do not include more than 20 people. Luxury coaches can, however, accommodate over fifty passengers.

Does the bus stop at all of the listed attractions and how long do the stops last when on a guided tour in Iceland?

Unless otherwise stated, the bus will stop at each listed location, presenting the opportunity for sightseeing and photographs. Stops will usually last anywhere between 10 minutes to 30 minutes, depending on where you're stopping. A lunch stop will last approximately half an hour.

Is it better to book a guided tour on arrival to Iceland or beforehand?

We recommend booking your tours and activities before arriving in Iceland to save yourself from disappointment. Availability on some tours is limited due to popularity, so make sure to secure your spot a few weeks beforehand.

Which language will my guide speak on my guided tour in Iceland?

All tour guides in Iceland speak fluent English, and all tours are conducted in English unless otherwise stated. Please contact us via info@guidetoiceland.is if you are having trouble finding a guided tour in your native language and we will arrange a guide for you.

Will I be free to leave the tour group on my guided tour in Iceland?

You will be given some room to explore the attractions, but will be informed of when and where to rejoin the group. Missing this will likely hold the tour up, making you quite unpopular with your travel companions.
