Over all Great!.. very good service and car they provided was in good condition. Pick up from airport was on time. Very near to the airport so returning the car was very easy.

The service and the people working at Iceland car rentals were lovely. We arrived earlier than expected but the company knew (I guess from flight numbers) so there was a person there already to pick us up. The car rentals was not far from the airport. One small gripe - the person looking after our documents must have been quite new as he took a very very long time to process paperwork. I saw other staff were able to process in 10 min, but we waited 30 min on top of waiting 30min for him to process the previous persons paperwork (the other staff were out picking up people from the airport) The car drove well. There was a tire pressure warning on most of the time when we were driving and they told us it was due to the sensitivity of the tire pressure sensor. I do drive the same model of car at home and have never seen this warning signal, but perhaps the sensors used differ from base model (which they have) to higher end model (which I have). Returning the car was super easy and we were back at the airport within 20min upon returning the car.

Overall great! We were late on arrival in the terminal, but pick up service came back to find us in short time. A minor gripe was that we reserved a current year model and was hoping to get the newer car, but received a previous year model because of the "...or similar" in the reservation title. The car was still clean and ran well, but I believe we paid slightly more for the new model but received the “older” car. Another minor issue, was that the low tire pressure warning was always on, they said it was because they just put new tires on, I assume they didn't install the TPMS sensors. It did not hinder the operation of the car, but was a minor annoyance with the light on in the dash. Check out was fast and they got us back to the airport with no hassle. Again, overall a great experience with friendly people and quick service!

Car rental repesentative met us at the airport and in 10 mimutes we already singed the agreement and car was handed. Very easy process, nice service and good car. Pleased with this company and highly recommend for a hassle free vacation!

They picked us up at the airport right on time and were extremely friendly. The staff explained everything upfront and took great care to inspect the car for previous damages before sending us off. I do agree with other reviews that some information should be made more clear on the website or in the confirmation emails, including the $3,000 deposit and the fact that they will pick you up in the airport and drive you to their location when you arrive (they do not have a booth inside). We really appreciated the service and price and will gladly recommend them to friends.

Overall, the experience was good. We arrived at the airport a little behind schedule, but the gentleman who picked us up was still there and was very friendly. He asked us where we were going and showed us the direction and the way to read the road signs. Due to miscalculation of travel time, we were half an hour late to return the car. The attendant there was very helpful to rearrange a drop-off at the airport. There are three things that I believe should be pointed out: 1) When I reserved the rental on line, I was not informed that i had to pay a deposit for the collision waiver. To have a zero waiver, you have to pay a 37k deposit. We ended up paying almost $200 USD to have a zero collision waiver in addition to the rental fees. I wish they spelled it out during the booking process. 2) We were not informed verbally at the desk to fill up the gas tank. I wish they would. We didn't know we had to until we returned the car that the attendant pointed it out that the tank was not 100% filled up. 3) The GPS that we booked for only allows English alphabet entries. Many of the street names have alphabets with accents and cannot be typed in. We tried 'close enough' alphabets but the device does not recognize. That was really frustrating. Unless there was an alternative keyboard that could be switched to that we were not aware of..

Very good. Everything went well, except picked up little late at the airport ,so we reached late at our destination.

We'd rate 4,5/5. We rented a Honda Civic Tourer which was in great shape. The staff was extremely friendly and even dropped us off at the hostel afterwards. The only two slightly negative things were that it was not very clear where to pick up the car upon arrival (after calling them, it got arranged in no time) and we didn't get a confirmation that the car was okay when returned (but a quick mail solved this problem). I'd highly recommend this company!

Everything was great, except it would have been nice to have more direction upon arrival at KEF and how to get to the rental car lot. We booked a Honda CR-V 4x4 and it was perfect for our 7 days touring Iceland (did the Ring Road). The car was clean and in great shape. The staff was very friendly and patient with us and our questions. We opted for the Gravel Protection insurance as we read on other travel blogs the car rental companies can really get you for this. The worker, Daniel did a very thorough inspection of all marks and dings before sending us on our way. Our first night we were staying on the island of Heimaey and didn't have our ferry tickets yet as they were unavailable online. Turns out Daniel is from there and called them to see how we could book our round trip ferry tickets. He booked them online while at the car rental center. I would highly recommend this company!

A little confusion on the pick up location, but overall a great experience with the car and the communication with staff.

Great !!! booked a Honda Shuttle for the trip but was too small for your baggage for 5 people......we upgraded to a Honda CR-V 4x4 Diesel and it fit perfectly for us. Wonderful driving round the Ring Road with some detours. We had to rush our trip because of a delay of 1 day in Toronto Canada. Overall a great car and great customer service. Pick up was on time at the airport . Fantastic experience driving in Iceland and it was my first time driving a left hand drive vehicle. Thanks and Cheers to all your staff :)

The agent had a sign waiting for us when we arrived at KEF and she drove us to the nearby car rental facilities. I only got the basic insurance coverage, which came with a surprise $3000+ damage deposit. The better coverages had a smaller or non-existent deposit, but I put my faith in the company and my driving skills. After returning the car, my deposit seems to have been promptly returned. The car was a CRV 4x4 with studded winter tires, which come standard during the winter. This gave me (a little more) peace of mind while driving the ring road in March at night. One star is deducted because we had a low-tire-pressure warning go off during a harrowing drive (night, freezing, ice, wind). The instruction manual in the glove compartment instructed us to pull over and check the pressure, but the car wasn't equipped with a pressure checker stick. We wound up driving another 60km, worried we would miss our tour because of a blowout and have to wait for a repair truck in freezing weather. We made it just fine. Upon returning the car, however, I mentioned the indicator went off and the employee said "oh, that indicator goes off all the time on all our vehicles." This should have been mentioned in advance. Other reviewers have indicated they even paid for a checkup and had to try to get it reimbursed. They picked the car up from my airBNB in Reykjavik as promised. I called to confirm, so I don't know if it would have happened automatically. Overall it lived up to all its promises, but could be improved by better communication.

Perfect! We were met in the airport just a short few minutes after we had gathered bags and cleared customs. The car was waiting for us and was as promised - a Honda CRV automatic with full navigation. The car was clean and drove nicely, although it did have over 30K miles on it. The return process was simple as well - and we were returned promptly to the airport for our departure. Would definitely recommend renting from IceRentalCars!

It's good but the agent late when pick up us in airport. We should meet at 5:00 pm but agent show up at 5:30 pm. Even we get a brand new CR-V, the car shows warning sign when we are in Hofn. I call the agent and they say just ignore it and it will disappear. However it doesn't. So we find a car fix store in Hofn, and find it's low tire pressure problem. the tire pressure should be 33 but only have 25. I think the agent is nice in communication and service. But for a car rental company should be more focused in details and safety.

The car condition was good but and the communication was nice.

Our Honda Jazz was pretty much new and in perfect condition. We requested that our vehicle be dropped at 12:00 am and sure enough, a representative was waiting outside our door at midnight. Our trusty Honda took us everywhere we needed to go along the southern coast of Iceland, and drop off at Keflavik was quick and easy. We would definitely recommend renting with Icerentalcars.

We got an almost brand new CR-V 2016. Low mileage and in very good condition which didn't give us any trouble when we travelled around Iceland. Staff is very friendly and easy-going. Upon our arrival we had some trouble to find the guy who would take us from the airport to their actual front desk (roughly 10 minutes away) so we had to call and he arrived within 5 minutes. When returning the car, everything was fine and they just brought us back un time to pick our flight back home. We would totally recommend them to our friends for future visits and use the service again if we go back to lovely Iceland Great value for the money!

The cars are in great condition and new. No problems with it at all despite traveling few hundred kilometres for the past 8days and where resources were sparse. Would definitely recommend them to anyone goin to Iceland!

People from the rental company is nice and take us from airport on time. The rental car, Honda CRV, is also in very good condition!

The Honda Civic we got is brand new. The staff is friendly. However we waited for half an hour at airport and there was still nobody picking us up. We had to call them and waited for another half an hour.

1) Before arriving Iceland, I couldn't get responses of my questions in time via e-mail. 2) The rental procedure for taking and returning in store was very smooth. The car I rent was Honda CR-V 4x4 2016 which was a great car for my venture. 3) While there was some noise on my front-left tire when I visit Dynjandi waterfall, the guy from IceRentalCars asked me to find a repair store near my position by myself.

Good pick up service, but returning was a bit different. We first arrived at the airport but was told to return to their office in the town nearby. I asked the guy send us the car about the returning location. He told us the airport without any details on the address. Hope you can make a note on this issue. Anyway the overall experience was good.

We had a 2016 Honda SUV and it is brand new. The staff was very nice and friendly. The only complaint I have is the delay of pick-up. They were supposed to pick us up at 7am in the airport. But we waited for half hour and still no show-up, finally we had to call them. Their office is about 10-15 minutes away from the airport. It seems to me that they don't plan to drive out and pick you up unless you give them a call. By the time I got pick-up and finished all the documentation in their office, it is already 8:10am. Good thing is we didn't lose our Blue Lagoon reservation at 8am that morning (we arrived Blue Lagoon at 8:30am.), otherwise I would have been really pissed off. When we dropped off the car, we had to wait for over half hour in their office because their staff went to the airport to pick up the other customers. It seems to me that this car rental company is very busy but they are under staffs. I suggest for people who is thinking to rent their cars, please make sure you call them immediately once you arrive the airport, and give yourself plenty of time between the car drop-off and the departure of your flight.

Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable little Honda Jazz with good gas mileage. Drop-off and pick-up were both an hour late.

We got a almost new and clean car. We didn't have any problem during the entire journey. The staff picked us up in the airport on time and we returned the car to the office at 4 a.m, afterwards, the staff drove us to the airport. Everything went perfectly and we had a great driving experience in Iceland. Thank you!

We booked the car through GuideToIceland.is, about 800 euros for 18 days. We were picked up at the airport (Keflavik) and were driven to the office. After some wait we got a brand new Honda CR-V. Staff is friendly and helpfull. On the last day we dropped the car of at 4 in the morning and brought back to the airport. Excellent service for an excellent price!

It was great expierence to use Icerentalcars's car. I rentaled Honda CR-V 2016 new one. It was very safe and comfortavble. Also Icerentalcars staff were all kind and supportive. Very nice trip because of them.

Our almost new Peugeot 108 was perfect for our road trip in the Westfjords. The pick up and drop-off was also very easy even if we gave the wrong flight number. We totally recommend Icerentalcars and we will definitely use this company again when we return to Iceland.

Friendly staff, helpful and made great recommendations for scenic routes. Gave me maps of the area, suggested a few good early morning hikes upon landing early in the morning and gave me a discount petrol card to use. Great service, clean reliable vehicle- will definitely use this company again when I return to Iceland.

IS Icrentalcar - great experience renting their car.! Aldi and Siggi from ICERental facilitated the rent of the car, a Honda Civic Comfort Sports sedan with studded tires for winter driving. Inspite of just one email contact for the reservation confirmation and not knowing on how to pickup the car, Aldi was on time and waiting for us in the arrival area at 6AM. We were pleasantly surprised! Car was clean and new. But most of all, which made me write this positive blog, is that they made an EXTRA SERVICE when we were locked out in our car (keys inside) 3 hours away(on a Sunday) from Reykjavic, in the town of Skogar. In dire need of help from them, they immediately sent an employee to open the car. This, we think is an ultimate service and support for a company their size. Kudos to IceRental! Highly recommended!

We have a 4 wheel drive Suzuki and the car is in great condition and clean. We drove to circle the Iceland and didn't have any issue on the road. The staff is friendly and the price is much cheaper than other big/famous rental car company. Truly recommend for IceRentalCars!

Nice clean car, good customer service. I left my glasses in the car and they dropped them back for me within an hour. Drop off and pick up service was timely. I would definitely book my car rental with Ice Rental cars again.

So, so wonderful -- the kind folks at the Guide To Iceland office were such a help in getting our rental set up, our perfect little 4 wheel drive Suzuki was delivered right to our hostel in Reykjavik, and then someone came to pick him up from us at the airport. Incredibly convenient, and no snowy winter road was a match for Snorri's studded tires! Yes we did name our rental car after Snorri Sturluson. Would fully recommend, both Ice Rental Cars and also naming your vehicle.

We loved renting a car, everything was made really easy from start to finish. Great company and lovely people in the shop. Would definitely recommend the Suzuki Vitara, also, we didn't pay for the GPS but got it anyway, thanks Guide to Iceland and Icerental Cars!

Will definitely use this company again. In a busy time in Reykjavik, they managed to deliver a car to us in 30 minutes, and when we got to the airport, they were there waiting for us - just went out of the car with the motor running and handed it over - extremely comfortable:)

This was by far the most relaxed car rental experience I have used. Almost to the point I started believing it was too good to be true, but it actually just was a nice relaxed service. The roads back into Reykjavík were terrible the day we were returning it, meaning we were going to be a bit late, but they did not mind at all, they picked it up once we were back safely. I will definitely try to use this company again in future.

I got into Reykjavik and had to wait at least 45 minutes before someone came and picked me up, only after I had called the office and they didn't really give me a lot of information to go off of. The staff I interacted with was friendly and helpful, but they weren't up front about the insurance so I ended up having to pay more than expected once I actually arrived. The car itself was clean and the tank was full, but because they had just put new tires on the car, the tire pressure light was on my entire trip. I had them check it beforehand so they knew and I got used to it being on. Returning the car was a breeze and they drove me to the airport after a bit of waiting. Overall, not a bad experience, I think I experienced more hiccups than most.

The car was great. We got a Honda Jazz, and it was a nice, clean, and new. The only issue we had was that no one met us to take us to where the car was upon arriving at the airport. Their office is not located within the terminal but about mile or so away. It was such a confusion not knowing where to wait for their shuttle. No service on our cell phone, we had to ask someone to call their office, and they finally came to pick us up. Our flight was a little bit delayed and did not anticipate the long wait for customs check, and we were told that the shuttle came earlier to pick us up but we did not show up. Upon booking the car, they did not require airline information, so we neglected to provide this so they did not have any information of our actual arrival. If their system is to send someone to meet with their customers upon arrival, they should require this information at booking to avoid this dilemma. The other issue was the mandatory refundable deposit of $3,000 or purchase the $200+ comprehensive insurance that we were not aware of until we picked the car up. We opted to just pay the $200+ additional insurance; however, we were told that it does not include tire and under chassis damages. Maybe this is the standard in Iceland? We decided to go with this company due to it being cheaper than the other name brand rental car companies. But with this additional insurance cost, I believe it would have come out to be the same but with some inconveniences.

The CRV are good to fix 4 of us and our luggage. The staff is kind, however, when i arrived Reykjavik airport, can't find the person who holding my name. Then i asking 1 by 1. The car information should list down clear information about the car.

the car was really new and clean. Generally speaking it was fine :) but there are two things which made me not happy: 1. the one who should pick up the car after the journey did not show up. After waiting for 20 minutes, I called the staff from "ice rental cars" but the operator seemed not very reliable. He said he would call another guy to pick up the car . After 20 minutes, no one called me. Then I called again, the operator said just leave the car there and put the key under the seat!! my god I can not believe this is done by a company! Due to other small problems totally I called them 4 times and it cost me 1 hour to deal with it. When I came back I was still afraid that if someone stole the car I would pay for it! 2. during my driving the car warned that the tire pressure was low and I went back to the town and found a workshop to fix it. It took me 2 hours and 1200 krona. When I returned the car, I just wanted to ask if the company could cover this charge or the insurance could, but the operator said I should ask the guy who would pick up the car! My god, aren't you from the company???!!! As I said above, no one picked up the car, and I left Iceland on the next day. Now the only way is to send them an Email. But as I heard, no one will reply you! that is a dead email! I really do not know why with this bad service the price is so high.

It's a very nice for drive at 4K of SUZUKI. But, have a 2 problem. 1.arrived late 30min. 2.I'm rentaled car's GPS was bloken,and didn't give me back GPS fee. This person in charge was really bad.

When we returned the car, there was a tiny ding in the windshield, which looked like it had been previously repaired (smooth to the touch, like it had been sealed over). My partner and I thought that the damage had been there during the initial check-out of the car, but it was pitch black and raining when we first checked the car out, and the damage hadn't been indicated on the check-out sheet, so we let it go. A month after returning the car, we were billed $3000 to repair the windshield! For a tiny ding that looked like it had already been repaired! 100% would not do business with this company again.

Update: We returned the car in perfect condition which was acknowledged by the rental company. 5 days later I received an email from them saying that they took the vehicle to the carwash and found a crack in the windshield. Want just under $1300 to repair it. Clearly trying to fleece us: we saw no cracks nor did their person who inspected the car in the light of day. Neither was the car particularly dirty... I also question the timing: 5 days later. Good people to avoid. Initial review: We rented a CRV diesel there through the "guide to Iceland" service. When we showed up it turned out that they won't rent unless we let them put a $3000 hold on our credit card. First time ever a car company would demand such an outrageously large deposit! Obviously a scare tactic to force you to buy their insurance (we have a full coverage from our credit card). We decided to let them put that hold, now waiting for the refund... The car was fine except for it was showing low tire pressure out of the gate. The price was pretty high but car rental is unusually expensive in Iceland as a rule.

We rented a SUV since thats what suggested when traveling thru Iceland. When we arrived at the rental car place it was 6am dark and rainy so I couldnt get the full feel for just how bad this car was. Well I soon found out the driver side window did not roll down, the seat could not be adjusted it was either sit all the way up at attention or lay down. the worst part was when driving though the mountains it began to rain as well snow began to fall and it was completely foggy and they defrost didnt work nor did the windshield wipers. When i called the rental company he stated that i should wipe the wipers off sometimes grits gets on the window from the road. We had no where to pull over so we slowly made our way thru 45k of barely visible road. We had an appointment that we had to get to but I brought the vehicle back immediately after our excursion. When I returned the vehicle and explained what happened the rep, he didnt seem to be phased by issues with the car and blew it off as its an old car. I was given a 2008 vehicle with over 300k miles on it and drove like it. I had to suggest compensation for the inconvenience multiple times before he obliged he didnt even give a full days credit. My life was put at risk and unfortunately no credit could amount to that but it would have been a better experience if he had made the effort.
