Waterfalls and home of dwarfs & elves
Don't miss Stjórnarfoss waterfall, Foss á Síðu and Dverghamrar rocks while in the south coast of Iceland. I want to mention two beautiful spots on the south coast that many people pass by. I know there are so many places on the south coast to explore and discover and of course you can´t see it all but still I want to share those. If you have plenty of time then I recommend this stop. Stjórnarfoss waterfall The first spot is a very spectacular waterfall called Stjórnarfoss. When you are driving direction east it can´t be seen from the main road even though it’s a short while from the so c

Most have driven around the island and seen all the most famous waterfalls and attractions. If you are in this position or simply love hiking, then read on. :) I'm gonna walk you through a very exciting hiking route in the highlands called "Fimmvörðuháls", which is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the country and a great destination for people into photography. The route The Fimmvörðuháls (five-ca
The Abandoned DC Plane on Sólheimasandur
Do you like science fiction movies and want be in one (almost) ? If yes then visit the abandoned DC plane on the black beach at Sólheimasandur. The epic plane wreck on the black beach in South Iceland In 1973 a United States Navy DC plane ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur, in the South Coast of Iceland. Fortunately, everyone in that plane survived. Later it turned out that the pilot had simply switched over to the wrong fuel tank. The remains are still on the sand very close to the sea. Go here to find the tour to the Sólheimasandur plane wreck. The scener
Exploring the Big Monster Hvítserkur in Northwest Iceland
I'm taking you to the giant monster “Hvítserkur” in Northwest Iceland. If you are driving from Reykjavík to North Iceland or vice versa, and if you have extra time, I recommend taking a detour to Hvítserkur in Vatnsnes peninsula. You could also do a day tour from Reykjavík city. The one-way drive is about 230km. There is a big signal on the main road (NO. 1) pointing to where to turn. After that, you have to drive about 25km gravel road to your destination, but this is a tour you don’t want to miss. Hvítserkur is a 15m high sea stack on the so-called Vatnsnes peninsula which also hosts a
A Day Trip To Waterfalls In West Iceland
Explore two beautiful waterfalls in Borgarfjörður Many people visiting Iceland don't have much time for travelling, but still want to explore some of the beautiful attractions that are here. This article will tell you about some amazing waterfalls close to the capital city Reykjavík. Its common that travelers do the Golden Circle route, which includes the Gullfoss waterfall and the geothermal area of Geysir, and of course I would still recommend you do that too. I think the attractions by the Golden Circle are the most visited in Iceland because they are easy to get to (not so far from
icy Iceland
Experience icelandic winter wonderland There are not everyone who can travel during summer time or some people prefer travelling in winter time. Iceland can be magical during winter and actually I recommend exploring the country this time of year because you discover a totally different world. The spots that where green and vibrant during summer are now suddenly white and frozen and so beautifully quiet somehow. The good thing about travelling in winter is the possibility to have the spots and the waterfalls all to yourself. How awesome is that. Just be sure to drive a sturdy car with goo

Discover the waterfall Gljúfrabúi The great thing about travelling around Iceland are all the different and unique spots and areas you can discover when driving around. You don't need to go far from the city to explore and enjoy amazing and beautiful places. Iceland is known for its large number of waterfalls and even if we have countless falls they are all very unique and differ from each other. I love to discover new waterfalls because it's one of my favourite subject to shoot. Not so long ago I discovered this magical hidden gem on the south coast of Iceland. The funny part is tha

Elliðaárdalur - A hidden gem in Reykjavík
In the middle of Reykjavík city there is a hidden nature gem called Elliðaárdalur valley, a peaceful recreation area that not many travellers know about or visit. If you are staying in Reykjavík and you have some extra time I totally recommend a visit to this oasis of the outskirt of the city. It's easy to reach from Reykjavík and you can even take the bus. You could even combine it with a trip to the historical museum Árbæjarsafn located not far away. I wrote about it before in Top 10 tips for photography in Reykjavík. Elliðaárdalur valley is know for its beautiful river called Elliðaá ri
