But the true coup of staying here is access to the atmospheric village of Vík í Mýrdal (Vik for short) itself, home to the strikingly white, red-accented Reyniskirkja church and panoramic views of the high tuff Reynisfjara Mountain and the Reynisdrangar Sea Stacks, which sit just off the coast of the village's own black sand beach – just a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
