The difference between heaven and hell
There is and old joke about the difference between heaven and hell being that in heaven the English will greet you, the French will to the cooking, the Italians handle the entertainment and the Germans will organise everything. In hell, on the other hand, apparently the French will greet you, the English will cook, the Germans will do the entertaining and the Italians will organise everything.
Of course we don't take hell very seriously in Iceland. Before Christianity we didn't have a hell here, the only thing that came close was a poorly build house with doors on the north side. So it was quite a cold and a damp place. When Christians began to talk about hell, we were very exited and asked if it was really warm, always, every day of the year. So they had to add sulphur and brimstone to try to make it slightly less appealing for us.
But I think it is true that each nation has something they are excellent at. In Denmark for example, they have a long tradition of making open face sandwiches and when they use their talent to make a normal sandwich, those are amazing.
In Iceland we didn't have roads until the 20th century. People traveled only on foot or riding a horse. They weren't able to go very far each day and when night fell, they'd just knock on the nearest door and ask for accommodation. Because of the climate here, people traveling was almost always taken in, saying no might kill them because of the cold weather.
So we make good tourguides and hosts in general, but our speciality is spirituality which we have from our connection with nature. We do have the same ratio of square kilometres vs. people as Australia.
Iceland is such a new island however and it seems to be extra easy to connect with nature here. To grow up here in that connection with nature makes it easier to connect with other people and the spiritual realm. Spirituality is also quite well accepted, so no one will judge if you talk to elves or angels.
Now is also a very exiting time, as there is a big wave of spiritual awakening happening on our planet and some of us are offering some help in that.
There is e.g. the lovely couple with Sacred Iceland (https://www.sacrediceland.com) they also have a Facebook site. and I am offering 40 hour, private retreats on Snæfellsnes (the beautiful peninsula on the west coast of Iceland). There are more information on my site (http://www.thormodursimonarson.com/434381941)
