Plan your own adventure around Iceland and book one of our Ring Road Tours today I'm born and bred in Reykjavík. I've travelled quite extensively around Iceland and consider myself pretty knowledgeable about the country and its attractions. I've also written a lot of articles about the natural attractions of Iceland here on Guide to Iceland. But in August/September of 2016, I drove the ring road of Iceland in

Bubbleball: A great group activity in Reykjavík!

If you're planning a bachelor or bachelorette party in Iceland, I can tell you the best option to book for it: Bubble Ball. It's also a great option for a group of friends, even if no-one is getting married ;) About a week ago I went to a Hen-Do (bachelorette party) for a friend of mine (we call them Geese Parties for women in Iceland, and Stag Parties for the men). My friend actually got married a year ago, but it was a secret and only the closest family members were present (and they didn't even know about it!) Her closest friends decided however to still have a hen-do for her and we de

Striptease in Reykjavík!

If you're coming to Iceland in search of seeing some women taking their clothes off in a strip-joint, you'll be sorely disappointed. However, you can catch a play about an Icelandic stripper at Tjarnarbíó theatre from the 24th of August until the 16th of September 2016. Photo credit above by Steve Lorenz Stripteases have been illegal in Iceland since 2010, but the show 'STRIPP' tells the story of an Icelandic actress who worked as a stripper for a few months in Berlin to raise money to pay off a debt. The play is co-authored between Olga Sonja Thorarensen (and based on her own true story)

The best picks of Reykjavík Culture Night 2016!

Reykjavík is a city full of exciting culture. The best way to experience all the culture Reykjavík has to offer is to be in Reykjavík during Culture Night! Culture Night in Reykjavík has been taking place for a number of years, and the theme each year is 'Come on in' or 'Gakktu í bæinn' (it could also be literally translated as 'Walk to town'). All the events related to Culture Night have a free entry, free buses drive into town and the entire city centre is turned into a pedestrian party. You can expect anything from theatre, dance, music and gallery openings to bbq's, free waffles, worksh

Gay Pride and Ass Kombat in Iceland this weekend!

This weekend is the oh-so-much-fun Gay Pride weekend in Iceland. All over town rainbow colours are adorning houses, buildings, offices and people. Our Guide to Iceland office went all in and changed the look of the office to coincide with the celebrations, that will reach their peak tomorrow during the Gay Pride parade that starts at 2pm from the Vodafone stadium, that's located at the bottom of Öskjuhlíð hill (the Pearl is on top of it). At 3pm today we got some lovely painters to stop by our office and give it a fresh new look - don't you love it?! :) They're still working on the fi

Sluts walk around in Reykjavík!

The annual SlutWalk in Reykjavík takes place on Saturday the 23rd of July 2016 for the sixth time. If you want to protest against rape culture and victim blaming, then join in for the SlutWalk or 'Druslugangan' walk that starts at 2pm from Hallgrímskirkja church and goes down Skólavörðustígur to Arnarhóll hill, where there will be some bands playing. 'Drusla' is Icelandic for slut. 'Ég er drusla' means I am a slut. And today there will be thousands of sluts in Iceland. If you don't know what a Slutwalk is, then let me explain it a little bit. It started in Toronto, Canada in 2011 after a
