Hofdi Cottages are situated in stunning North Iceland. This outdoor wonderland includes beautiful natural features like lava fields, waterfalls, mountain peaks, and black sand bays. It’s all about the views here. Watch geese and birds on the lake and then turn to the other side for breath-taking mountain views.

The remote location of the cottages means that a stay here is filled with peace and quiet.

The cottages are located just outside the village of Dalvik. Dalvik was the third-largest herring port in Iceland at the turn of the 20th century and still holds an annual festival to celebrate this. The festival includes live music, fireworks, and a seafood buffet supplied by local fish producers. Dalvik is also a popular location for skiing.

The village has all of the amenities that you’ll need during your stay.

Also close by is the Svarfadardalur Nature Reserve. This is Iceland’s oldest wetland protection area and covers eight square kilometers. The area is a nesting place for various bird species.

There are three cottages available to choose from – Litli Cottage, Har Cottage, and Elsti Cottage.

Litli Cottage has a kitchen, bathroom, and open plan living space with a sofa bed. Outside the cottage, there is a spacious terrace with a barbecue and table and chairs for al fresco dining. There’s also a shower outside of the cottage in the sauna building.

Har Cottage is a wheelchair-accessible accommodation option, It sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms. There’s also a cozy living room, bathroom, and a well-equipped self-catering kitchen. Outside there’s a terrace with a hot tub, barbecue, and table and chairs.

Elsti Cottage is the largest of the three cottages. It sleeps up to seven people in two bedrooms. There’s also a modern bathroom, comfortable living room, and a kitchen with everything you need for cooking. Head outside to the spacious terrace for a hot tub, barbecue, table, and chairs.

Choose a hot tub cottage for the ultimate in relaxation after a long day walking in the stunning surroundings. Filled with 104F (40C) you can enjoy spectacular views over the valley.

There is free Wi-Fi available in the cottages. However, we suggest you go off-grid during your stay. Take a screen break and enjoy the amazing views and nature which surround you instead.
