My name is Pétur Þór Ragnarsson. I'm 34 years old, married and together with Ágústa, my wife, we have a 7 year old son. I currently live in Reykjavík and we have no plans of leaving. I am a photographer focusing on landscape photography. I thoroughly enjoy the great outdoors and in my opinion Iceland is possibly one of the best places for landscape photography. With it's lunar like landscapes, epic waterfalls and geysers the possibilities are endless. I offer tailor made photo tours, day tours as well as longer tours. Don’t hesitate to contact me for information if you’re headed to Iceland with your camera.

Essential gear for winter photography

The nights are getting darker and the inevitable is happening! Summer will soon start to fade and give in to fall which happens to be one of my favourite seasons as a photographer. The colours and mood it brings always bring a smile to my face.  Soon thereafter winter will reign. As working photo guide I often get asked by photographers what gear to bring to maximize their chances for good photographs. The weather can be ever changing and in many cases you could be heading out in a blizzard and still through the course of the day come across amazing

The cool thing about Iceland is that so often you can find dry spots on rainy days that will provide you with excellent photo opportunities. This is one of the key reasons why you should consider hiring a professional photo guide. You are hiring a local that knows the locations and the weather in Iceland and is, therefore, more likely to present you with

Winter is gone, summer is here!

As winter slowly resides and releases its stronghold on Iceland I thought I’d share with you some pictures of winter in Iceland. This picture was taken on a tour which I got here through Guide to Iceland that was fairly long, 9 days, and where my group really got to know what Iceland is made of during the wintertime. For me personally I’m very happy if I get one good image a day in tour like this. Not necessarily a great image, just a good one. If we put that in to perspective it’s actually quite an achievement to maintain that. The best light as most photographers know is around sunrise an
